I wasn't sure if you'd read it or not, so I didn't want to go into detail. It could have made for an interesting story, though.

Indeed, if you watch Amon's fighting style it is very similar to airbending.

Also I've got a feeling that something bad is going to happen to Asami.

Holy crap... crazy thought. What if he's not a spirit bender, so much as a bending stealer (a la Sylar without the killing) and can absorb the bending abilities of those he debends? It looked like he was bloodbending Korra, and if he managed to nab Aang's airbending and spiritbending before Aang died, it could explain why Korra is having so much trouble with airbending and the spiritual side of things.

It was wild speculation, not confirmed. Sorry for being unclear. :alienblush:

You know, I'm almost wondering if Amon is possessed by an evil spirit. I can't figure out how he would be able to overcome Tarrlok's blood-bending.

A friend of mine has a theory that Amon is Ang's other son, Boomie. Far feached us viable as we have not seen his other two kids yet.

^It's spelled Bumi, but that's been my leading theory for weeks.

Just my wild guess, Yakone is Amon.

But he's also a weasel. Somehow shift it to Amon, make himself out to be a martyr, rustle up support.....

Too many witnesses. And I don't think you're considering just how horrific bloodbending is. It's the one form of bending that's actually outlawed. It's the Avatarverse equivalent of being a child molester or something. There's no way he can recover from this politically, even if it's just an accusation.

Not going to happen, Kya and Bumi haven't been mentioned in the show and there are only 3 episodes left this season, introducing them right before the finale and then revealing Bumi as Amon wouldn't work.

Yeah, that's the main thing that keeps doubts in my mind whether Bumi is Amon or not. But this latest episode was structured so we'd start drawing a parallel between Aang and Amon, in that Yakone has his bending taken away by Aang, and then his son suffers the same fate at the hands of Amon.

Also, the out-of-show information that Aang and Katara had three children, a water-bender, an air-bender and a non-bender, is just perfectly lined up to have it turn out that the non-bender actually inherited the third type of bending that's in the family line: spirit bending.

But yeah, if that's where it's going it's weird they haven't done much with Bumi in the show proper.

They were mentioned in episode 1.
Making a point of mentioning them like that may have just been an easter egg for the fans -- "Hey, Aang and Katara named their kids after Katara's mom and Aang's old friend!" -- but it could also have been to put Chekhov's Gun on the wall.

In this case, Chekhov's gun is a derringer, so fleeting it's easy to miss it. ;)

I'm curious. You must have a screen shot showing where it was written - on screen - that the name is spelled "Bumi," yes? Otherwise, you're pulling it out of your butt, and ASSuming you're right.

Well, it was spelled "Bumi" in the original show, and Aang clearly named his son after that character, so it stands to reason it would be spelled the same.

Was there a note, or a book, or banner, or something else, that was depicted on screen showing that spelling? I'm able to find five episode titles that have character names in them, but "Bumi" is not among them.

Jet, Zuko Alone, Appa's Lost Days, Sokka's Master, and Sozin's Coment Part 4: Avatar Aang.
