(2011)-2012 NBA Season

Superior team? Debatable.

As for luck, hey, every team goes through that ebb and flow, the Celtics have no monopoly on that aspect.

Or on the refs.

They had game one in hand, but lost their defensive intensity. They can win. You can see their collective mindset solidifying. This team believes in itself. They couldn't do shit about SA all season long. Winning breeds confidence. If Westbrook can actually get hot, and they keep the defensive intensity up, they stand a chance.

Most definitely, if they win in San Antonio tonight, the Thunder take it in 6. I do think they have the better team talent wise, it has always been about the maturity, not just of the players, but of the coach.

Our bench, for the most part, is our primary weakness especially when it comes to bigs. Stiemsma still can't handle the pick and
roll and is slow to defend perimiter players. Hollins is outright useless outside of possibly being an energy guy. Williams is the one X factor that we have yet to play, but he can't be any worse than Hollins.

Whenever Garnett is off the floor, our interior defense takes a shit and gives up a multitude of easy layups. And on the offensive side, we turn into a generally predictable jump shooting team.

As for the refs, outside of that missed call against Rondo in overtime in game 2 and some ticky tacky technicals in game 1, I'm not overly concerned with them. Hell, James got his first foul out since I believe 2008.

P.S.

They must might get into the Heat's head yet...!

You have to admit that without Bosh, the Heat's bench isn't very good either. I think that's my point. I'm not ready to concede that Wade+Lebron > Garnett+Rhondo (or Pierce).

Anyway, it is good to see a series in both conference finals, as far as I'm concerned.

You have to love Pop's comments--"We only played one half this time, not even 3 quarters", essentially.

It could just be that OKC is too young and talented, and now smart enough, to take out the veteran Spurs.

I pity either Boston or Miami if they go up against that team.

I wouldn't pity Miami. Celebrity showboat crybabies.

Is it my imagination or has my Thunder's confidence gone to a new level in just the last three games? I was stuck listening to the game instead of watching it because I'm stuck late in the office doing my boss's paperwork. The Thunder play by play radio commentators suck eggs. :angryrazz: I wanted to watch TNT but there's no television in the office and the internet feed is too damn jerky to watch on his office computer.

What a performance by the Thunder. The Spurs have got to be seriously questioning everything about themselves right now. Pop has to be beside himself. They were up 2-0 and now may allow one of only 14 other teams in NBA history (including, of course, the Lakers against the Spurs) to come back and win the series. This seems unfathomable for an organization like San Antonio -- but what am i saying? The Lakers did this very thing to them in 2004. :)

BTW, if they lose game 6 on a last second jumper by Fish, they'll need to put Tony, Tim, Manu, and Pop on suicide watch.

A win in game 6 while not impossible for the Spurs, will take a serious gut check. If it wasn't Pop and the Spurs (or a very select few other teams), I'd write them off now and start sizing up the Finals' match ups.

So Dorian, still think the Spurs are "The Borg"?

Well, "The Borg" are still in the playoffs, just not in the NBA playoffs. The L.A. Kiings, one game away from the Stanley Cup, are 15-2 in the playoffs, undefeated on the road, and have started each series by going up 3-0, all without home ice and from the 8th seed in the west. Now that is Borg-like behaviour. Resistance is futile, the Cup will be assimilated. :)

Damn does this suck. And if the Celts win, with the way the west is looking, they'll have the perfect team waiting for them in the Finals.

Crap.

God, I hope the Celtics put the Heat away in Game 6. So much lulz would be had.

I'm actually kinda digging the idea of a Celts/Thunder Finals.

The Celts blew their chance in that lakers series when they gave away a home game right after they defeated the Lakers in LA.
I believe there was another incident in the playoffs where the same scenario held true.

In other words, I have no idea who will win the next game.

BANZAI!!!!!!!!

The Celtics are simply unbelievable. Love 'em or hate 'em, they've got the heart of a champion...

I lived in Boston for 4 years from when they made their run in 08 until thd end of this April. I was never a Celtcs fan, and just watched passingly, but now seeing them from a distance again, you are totally right.

What did they mike that kid up or something? He sounded sincere to me though... not what you want to hear at that point if you're on the losing team though.

Sort of like being in mile 23 of a marathon and having cheerful, clueless, albeit well-intentioned people shouting "good job" and "you can do it" as you slam into that wall...

OKC looks unstoppable...!

Yes. Yes, they do.

Not taking anything for granted, but.......highly encouraged at this point in time. Boston's fantastic, but can their old legs keep pace with the Thunder for seven games? We shall see. We shall see.

I can't believe someone actually put that on an electronic road sign about LeBron. I acknowledge that he was a complete tool the way he went about switching teams, but shouldn't a championship loss to the Mavericks and another slipping away soften people's stance a little?
