Where is this Vulcan?

ItsGreen

Captain
Captain
Has this been discussed before?
In Mirror, Mirror, on the I.S.S. Enterprise we see a Vulcan security guard, personal guard for Spock. So where is his counterpart on the U.S.S. Enterprise?? If this was a parallel universe then there should another Vulcan on board other then just Spock. Do we every see one or is mention made of one?

There is nothing that says that every last person on our Universe's Enterprise has to have an exact opposite double on the Mirror Enterprise at the same time.

For example in our universe, Marlena Moreau has just been assigned to the Enterprise apparently. Kirk and Scotty both seem surprised to see her so it's unlikely she was serving elsewhere aboard the Enterprise.

By constrast, the Mirror Marlena has apparently been serving aboard the mirror Enterprise for some time. Long enough to not only become the mirror Kirks lover but also to freely have access to his cabin and even the Tantalus Field controls.

This guy likely does have a counterpart in the prime universe, just somewhere other than the Enterprise. Hopefully the counterpart possesses a more refined fashion sense.

:)

The concept of a Vulcan bodyguard is badass, though. I too wonder, where this vulcan is. perhaps his parents never conceived him in this universe.. or does that go against the rules of the mirror universe? I always forget... lol

If you look at the Mirror Universe Enterprise episode, it has been noted (in wikipedia no less) that the Mirror Universe Enterprise seems to have a more diverse crew (more aliens) than the prime universe Enterprise.

A bit of irony since the Mirror guys are supposed to be conquering badasses.

Unless I'm missing something, I saw only that one dude...

How is that irony? Couldn't they be conquering badasses with lots of slaves?

Look at the Roman Empire, after you were conquered, your people became Roman citizens. Towards the end of the Empire's life, ninety percent of the Empire's military were non-Italians, (which was part of the reason for the fall).

Separately, in the Byzantine Empire, much of the military, including top ranking officers, were slaves.

It possible that the Vulcan we're discussing, and even Spock himself, are slaves.

:)

Hell, even emperors, including some of the best ones were non-Italians in the Roman Empire.

Some say the real genius of the Romans was not in conquering, but in governing.

I don't believe that having a diverse Roman military was one of the reasons for the Western Roman Empire's fall. I believe some of the reasons for this empire's fall could be attributed to a faltering economy and to a government that wasn't stable.

Actually, he just looks like a human with extremely bad eyebrows (yes, I realize his ears are pointy). Why didn't he get the straight-bangs bowl haircut like every other Vulcan throughout Trek history until Tuvok?

Actually, Vulcans, and Romulans for that matter had a lot more diversity in hair style until TNG. They kept the Moe Howard haircuts until Tuvok came along, then went back to Moe for Enterprise.

Yes, variety is nice, IDIC, blahblahblah... but this particular Vulcan still looks ridiculous.*

*in my not-at-all-humble opinion

In our Universe, this Vulcan was an executioner on Vulcan:

(They were both played by Russ Peek.)
