Final cover for Fallen Gods.

I hope that's not final. Because Riker's right eye is looking off to the right, while his left eye is looking up to the sky.

Honestly, I'd rather see more images of the alien crew members like we got with Dr. Ree & Ensign Lavena.

I really thought that was the plan back when the series began to slowly portray all of them.

Am I the only one who doesn't like how "TITAN" takes up a third of every cover? I get that it gives the series its own distinctive look, but it kind of irks me.

Anyway, I think this looks pretty cool, even with Riker going all Derpy Hooves on it. :p

I think that was Marco Palmieri's plan when he was editing the series, but he's not with Pocket anymore.

Really underwhelming, along with Micheal Martin being the author, it's a definite pass.

I think it looks horrible in the images on line, but awesome in print with the spot varnish. Or at least it did when the first few books had that - I wouldn't be surprised if Pocket skimped out in the meantime...

I like it. Simple, but effective.

I think that Riker is pretty much a direct screenshot from First Contact though when he's listening to the reports of the Battle of Sector 001.

Yes, it is. I found the screenshot at TrekCore's HD screencap gallery 4 (I think links to the gallery pages will work even though direct links to the screencaps won't). I think it's been modified slightly, though -- the whites of the eyes seem a bit brighter and the pupils a tiny bit smaller, as though the artist filled in the whites and painted over a bit of the pupil edges as a result.

I didn't at first but I've grown to like it quite a bit. It makes it standout from other covers on the bookshelf.

Martin didn't impress me very much with Seize The Fire, but I'll give this one a try. I am a bit concerned though, since I haven't heard a lot of positive things about his other solo-efforts in the Earth-Romulan War series. But who knows.

I think this one is OK. I would have rather gotten a different character, or at least something other than the ship, which we've already seen.

I've really appreciated and enjoyed the consistency of the Titan series' cover designs and I hope that it continues. Now, the art for Fallen Gods doesn't look quite as good as the previous installments, but it may look better in printed form than it does here. As much as I'd like to see the other characters featured on the cover, I don't have an issue with them using Riker's image. He's the most recognizable character and also the Captain. Plus, it's not as if he's dominated the covers of all of the previous books (he's been used most often, sure, but he isn't featured on every one).

To be fair, it's kind of hard to judge Martin's solo efforts in the Romulan War duology because of extenuating circumstances. Beneath the Raptor's Wing was written just around the time when Margaret Clark lost her job as Star Trek editor; the editing turnover led to more errors than usual making it through the process. And To Brave the Storm suddenly had to try to encompass two books' worth of story in one, because Pocket cut the series back from a trilogy to a duology.

I don't think Martin's awful, but I also don't think he's as strong a writer as others. His characters are a little stiff--dialogue is not his strong suit. But his stories are fun, and his storytelling ambition is admirable.

(Honestly, the thing that bugs me most about Martin is incredibly minor and subjective: I really hated that he put the United Earth Prime Minister's office on the Place de la Concorde, future site of the Federation's capitol building, and that he started calling the United Earth Daedalus-class ships "U.S.S. Whatever." I viewed it as conflating United Earth and the Federation. Like I said, really minor, but it bugged me.)

I hope Torvig gets a better shake this time; Martin did not seem fond of him nor of using him. But a race of "Fallen Gods" with supertechnical capabilities seem just the right sort of candidate for his Great Builders.
