Most Interesting Alien Species?

DS9

Lieutenant
Red Shirt
So what is your favorite alien species? Why? I think this could be interesting. Mine are the Vulcans. My favorite Star Trek character is a Vulcan (Spock). That makes them interesting to me is their supreme intelligence, desire for perfection, long lives, control of emotions, strength, diplomacy, peacefulness, positivity ("Live long and prosper"), etc.

In my opinion, they haven't changed throughout the history of Star Trek, unlike the Borg who Voyager kind of ruined.

The Vulcans do have some negative aspects, such as control of positive of emotions, arrogance, dry personality, etc, however all in all they are my favorite kind of alien in Trek.

What is your favorite alien species?

I really like the Vulcans too - especially with the depth and rich history given in novels like "Spock's World" (and "The Lost Years" revelations about what the Kolinahr masters used to be!) and the uncertain future they now face after the last movie.

I also really like the Xindi. They were a fascinating alliance. And, the Aquatics and Insectoids were sooooo cool!

The Jem'Hadar. Something about that single-minded devotion to duty always appealed to me. Jem'Hadar centred episodes like To the Death and Rocks and Shoals are really awesome episodes.

Indeed. I would have to agree with everything that you said here. I too love the Vulcan's, their history, their culture, everything. And also the Xindi. Five different races making up a people, absolutely fascinating. But, I would like to include the Klingons and Ferengi. I think you really get to see a different side to them if you watch Deep Space 9. Especially the Ferengi. When you're introduced to them in TNG you just hate them, can't stand them, want them gone. But in DS9 you get to have a look at the more every day Ferengi, and see how exciting they really are.

another vote for the Vulcans. Bajorans are pretty interesting, too.

Klingons are boring.

Vulcans are the most interesting to me. The Ferengi were also excellent when they were handled well (Most of DS9).

Being a Norse mythology buff, I can't help be a bit partial to the Space Vikings (that's Klingons for you 2 at the back) but absolute favourite I'd say the Space Romans.

Romulans are just subtler than most Trek species, more refined, more complex in motivation and they can be quite adept with words, a trait they share with Cardassians.

Ferengi were great comic relief, Bajorans just suck, with the possible exception of Ro.

I'd have to say the Bajorans, because of their tragic backstory, the brutalities they were forced to endure at the hands of the Cardassians and undertake in order to try and liberate themselves. Followed by their efforts to rebuild and find their place in the galaxy. I'm not a relgious person (my views on the subject would probably tick off many), but I liked that aspect to them as well without being overly 'preachy'.

The Vulcans are a very close second (they do seem to get into every fanfic I write).

If there was a question about which species was the dullest, I'd have to say the Klingons. Ok you want honour, enough already!

Although I have a soft spot for the VUlcans, I won't mention them.

I really, REALLY love the Cardassians. As a species, they managed to balance charisma and revulsion perfectly. I can't think of more dynamic characters than Dukat and Garak.

Tough Call, there are so many great characters and races.

Shran, Weyoun, Brunt (And Quark)
Martok, Worf, Kor, Kang
Tpol, Tpau, Spock, Soval, V'Lar
Dukhat, Damar, Garak
Kai Winn, Kai Opaka, Kira, Ro
Romulans
The Founders

I think Jeffery Combs is probably my favorite recurring actor

The Vulcans have always had a history that was/is fascinating to me. Not very exciting, I suppose, but nonetheless.

Andorians and Romulans are my favorite.

Some honorable mentions are Hirogen, 8472, Suliban, Xindi-Aquatic ('cuz their huge ships are awesome), Cardassians, Vorta, and Jem'Hadar.

Unless they are conquered by vampires from the dark side of the moon or paint oh-so-nasty-looking tattoos on their faces, those who march beneath the raptor's wings.

I second this. I don't recall ever seeing an un-interesting Cardassian in any of Trek.

Yeah, but Dukat started out as an interesting character and good adversary. The direction in which they took his character was a bad choice by the writers; I hated that whole pagh wraith storyline.

My favorite Federation aliens are the Vulcans. Honorable mention to the Andorians and Tellarites.

My favorite non-Federation aliens are probably the Cardassians. Honorable mention to the Romulans and Ferengi.

I third this. I also enjoy the Andorians and the Vorta. All of these alien characters were interesting to watch. I was never bored when they were on screen!
