Creating the New Characters

Name: Anari Chase (nee Vahl)
Position: Commanding Officer
Rank: Captain
Species: Trill
Sex: Female
Age: 42 (in 2380)
Actor: Dina Meyer

Biography:
Her mother died during unexpected complications during Anari’s birth. She grew up very close to her father, a strong bond that remains to this day. On Trill, unlike many of her peers, she had no interest in being Joined but she did have her heart set on entering Starfleet. When she was old enough she enrolled into the Academy.

At the Academy she met Dominic Chase, who was actually dating her roommate at the time (though they split just before graduation). She graduated high in her class and began a very promising career. Five years after last seeing him on Earth, she met Dominic Chase again when she was assigned to the U.S.S. Tecumseh. They served side-by-side (her at Ops and him at the Conn) and in time their friendship developed and they were soon romantically involved. Their relationship continued until he was offered a promotion and reassignment. Before he left, he proposed to her and she accepted. It would be a year later before they were married and, despite sometimes being separated by dozens of sectors, they made it work. She became a command-level officer in the early 2370s onboard the Akira-Class U.S.S. Kumari, during which time she and Dominic talked about the prospect of starting a family. Though they both wanted children, they were also both excelling in their careers.

When the Dominion War began, she remained on the Kumari which saw considerable combat throughout. During the Battle of Chin’toka the Kumari’s CO was killed and she assumed command during the battle. Afterwards, she was promoted to Captain and remained onboard as the new CO. In 2375, the Breen launched an attack on Earth. All available ships were scrambled to defend the planet, including the U.S.S. Zhukov which was under the command of Captain Dominic Chase. During the battle, the Zhukov was lost and among the casualties was her Captain. She took the loss hard, but stayed at her post throughout the remainder of the war and afterwards. In the five years following the end of the war, she has commanded the Kumari in several key assignments throughout the former Cardassian Union, along the Breen border and on the fringes of Federation space. When the U.S.S. Starship was completed, she beat out all the other candidates on the short list and was assigned as Commanding Officer.

Name: Michael Levitz
Position: Commanding Officer
Rank: Chief Engineer
Species: Human
Sex: Male
Age: 30 (in 2368)
Actor: Eric Szmanda

Biography: To come.

Thank you Jonny.

Giving it a little more thought, I believe that she would take the name Chase after her husband was KIA--being Trill she uses it to show that she was "joined" with him.

Not a problem Bry Sinclair though truth be told I've never been good at creating biographies for characters. I'm fine with names, ages, ranks and races but biographies I find tricky lol.

I'll see if I can come up with one though.

Well depending on the age and experience level of characters, by 2380 there's been plenty that gone on in the universe they could have been involved in.

Hell, you could even bring in one of the extras from DS9 or VOY (maybe Mr Ayala has earned a full commission and might get more than just a couple of lines ).

Back on topic, I wrote up Kivor's bio:

Name: Kivor
Position: First Officer
Rank: Commander
Species: Vulcan
Philosophy: v'tosh'katur
Sex: Male
Age: 56 (in 2380)
Actor: Cliff Simon

Biography: A Vulcan who follows a conservative form of v’tosh’katur, Kivor does not believe that completely suppressing one’s emotions is what Surak intended or that it is healthy for Vulcans. However, Kivor still endeavors to remain in strict control of his actions. Kivor believes that logic is important but not at the complete expense of emotion. Just beneath the surface of his control, Kivor carries the burden of tremendous anger for atrocities he witnessed as a child. Were he to act on that simmering rage, he believes he could cause serious harm to those around him and for that reason more than anything else, he practices strict logical control. So while he may smile, laugh, or even tell a joke once in a while, he is far from undisciplined.

What do you all think of an angry Vulcan? It would make an interesting change, I think.

If he's angry all the time, but we've seen various Vulcans in canon show anger when they've lost control...

I would love to see a Trek series pushed up 300-400 years. Angry Vulcans? A definite possibility. In Abramsverse, with the destruction of Vulcan, it could be a possible twist that Vulcans begin following their passions like their ancestors.

I would love to see a crew more akin perhaps to a 'Mission: Impossible' team than a Horatio Hornblower adventure.

Here's what i came up with.

Name: Elizabeth Lawson
Position: Chief Operations Officer
Rank: Lt Commander
Species: Human
Sex: Female
Age: 27 (in 2380)
Actor: Anna Skellern

Biography:
Elizabeth Lawson was born into a Starfleet family both parents served her mother Karen was on the faculty of Starfleet academy where she spend her career. Her father Nigel spent his career between desk jobs at command and ship board assignments. When Elizabeth was four years old her father Nigel was killed, he was in command of the U.S.S. Kisaragi, during a skirmish with Cardassia forces. This loss deeply affected Elizabeth however it did not put her off a career with Starfleet. She grew close to her uncle who is Vice Admiral Robert Lawson.

At the Academy she excelled at most of her studies and graduated in the top ten percent of her graduating class. After graduating she received her fist positing to the U.S.S. Thornhill a New Orleans class starship, captained by Adam Bradshaw who believed everyone should learn their way around first.

When the Dominion War began, the Thornhill saw some heavy fighting. It was destroyed though most of the crew were able to escape, though Elizabeth was injured and was sent to Starbase 167 for treatment. She took a post there as an operations officer till, now she is ready to get back out into space and explore.

When the U.S.S. Starship was completed, she beat out all the other candidates on the short list and was assigned as Chief Operations officer.

Yeah, that's the idea. I mean for him to be in a near-constant state of simmering, barely restrained fury just beneath his facade of control. Not a frothing-at-the-mouth, kicking-and-screaming sort of anger but tranquil (sorta) fury.

"That's the secret, Captain. I'm always angry."

Except it wouldn't be much of a secret.

You know what? I've been thinking about it all weekend and I still can't come up with a decent one

Best I've got is this.

Orphaned at age of 10 due to an attack by the Borg.

Has a younger sister (who I'm thinking could come into it as a crew member later on much like Ro Laren?) named Sophie

That's about it at least for now  told you I was rubbish at biographies :guffaw:

That's not a bad start actually. You could further expand on this, for example:

In 2365, when Jonny was 8 and his sister Sophie was 2, their mother was assigned to the Nebula-Class U.S.S. Bellerophon as Chief Flight Control Officer. The ship was a comfortable place for them to grow up, with many other children and ample facilities onboard. For the first two years after their father had died [possibly of some alien virus], they were happy. But in 2367, the Bellerephon was assigned to the fleet that assembled at Wolf 359 to face off against the Borg Cube. The battle went badly from the beginning and the Bellerephon was among the ship's destroyed by the Cube. Jonny and Sophie survived, evacuated with the rest of their classmates by way of escape pods, however their mother was killed in action.

Going with this chronology, the character would be 23 by 2380, which would make him an Ensign with a year or two service under his belt. Whilst Sophie would be 17, and maybe beginning her time at the Academy.

Just some thoughts.

Thanks for the feedback Bry Sinclair.

I like your thoughts Bry you're definitely much better at this than I am that's for sure. :)

As for their personalities I'd have Sophie as the most wary of getting close to people due to what happened when they were kids but then gradually opens up more. And that this would lead to conflict between her and other crew members including her brother Michael at times.

Sophie would have an interest in medicine but goes into the security training instead (at least initially).

Whereas Michael will sometimes get too protective but is more friendly and more relaxed then his sister initially. And he'd be somewhat on the geeky side when it comes to science.

And that aside from Engineering his interests would involve Basketball and Piano playing.

Seems to be coming along now, seems to be more fleshed out than previously.

Ooh and as for who'd play Sophie? I was thinking maybe Kirsten Bell?

Thanks for the help Bry Sinclair :techman:
