facebook Looking into how to charge users

I could see Facebook charging business pages to make sure their posts, which are often advertisements, get seen. But charging the everyday user? Might as well ask people to leave.

And where would they go? I've never heard anyone in my circle of friends, family and colleague talk about using Google+ or any other social media site that has any importance.

Facebook is the juggernaut and if you like social networking and the stuff FB offers then there's no going around it.. there's just no realistic alternative because of the user count. Facebook has around 800 million users and that alone ensures it keeps its customers because it's the key to their success.

So for some Facebook has become equally, if not more, important than their telephone or mobile and if Facebook starts charging small feels for this or that feature people will bitch and moan but they will pay because there's nowhere else to go.

You can leave facebook without joining a different social networking site. A lot of people use facebook, sure, but I'm sure a lot of people would be willing to part with it. I use facebook all the time, but if I started having to pay for it, I'd just quit. I love using it, but I don't need it. I suspect the same is true of a lot of people.

They pretty much said the same thing about Myspace back in the day. They kept making big changes and screwing up and eventually people left in droves after being fed up, and where did they end up? A little known placed called Facebook. It wasn't very big back then, but word got around that it was better than Myspace and I think that's where they got their first big influx of people.

If there isn't anything good enough now, I'm pretty sure something will come along eventually, likely by some ex-facebook employees or a bunch of fed-up facebook users with a new startup looking at taking the wind out of their sails. Being social media, it's going to be heavily affected by social changes in what people need and want, and they're going to have to try hard to keep people loyal when and if something better does come along. The number one biggest mistake in business is to assume that because you're a big player, that you'll never be toppled.

I hated the changes and had growing concerns for awhile. But everyone was on Facebook. So I stayed because where else was I going to go? I deactivated my account a few times before I finally just deleted it.

I realize that many people wouldn't do that, but make it unpleasant enough and people will leave. I feel so much better for it, too.

This.

I'd still have SMS, E-mail, what have you. I've not seen anything posted on Facebook that couldn't have been sent by e-mail or SMS. I got the account cause the wife wanted me to get to know her cousins and aunts; yeah that backfired. Now I use it to troll my relatives, I'm not going to pay to make Church Of Gonk posts.
