Spider-Man movie (casting, rumors, pix till release)

ok. Saw the preview. You know, it just doesn't feel particularly Spidermany to me. Feels more Hollywood than New York, and Spiderman is very much a creature of New York - his personality and that of the city are a perfect match.

Also... why is everyone in the preview whispering? Everyone. Every line. Why?

Maybe you need to turn the volume up? I only heard 'whispering' at appropriate moments, and even then it's a stretch to call it whispering, more like low-talking.

Pretty good preview. I had to chuckle when it called itself the "most anticipated movie." Yeah, keep telling yourself that Spider-man.

Spider-man would probably say

"Hey, I'm a pretty big deal. I had my own Broadway show"

;)

Something I noticed when I saw the third trailer and that was only enforced by this new 'super preview' is that it seems as if Peter Parker's secret identity as Spider-Man becomes not so secret at some point in the film, at least when it comes to both Gwen and Captain Stacy (and possibly the NYPD). If this is the case, I find it interesting because I can't recall another version of the Spidey story where both Peter's love interest(s) and the public authorities (or at least one public authority) become aware of his secret.

don't think the police do find out his ID. he's too busy bouncing around like Sonic on speed whupping their asses after he gets unmasked for them to see much.

It's surprising they're revealing that in the trailer because it would seem to be an important plot point and one that would take many by surprise. Maybe it's just another way to show they're different.

In the comics Capt. Stacy knew his identity, I'm not sure if he does or not in this movie.

In Ultimate Spider-Man MJ, Aunt May, Gwen Stacy, Johnny Storm, the X-Men,the Ultimates, S.H.I.E.L.D and Nick Fury all know Peter's secret identity.

In the "Marvel Adventures" comics, Peter's current love interest (who isn't Gwen) and Captain Stacy know.

It's not really the possibility of Captain Stacy knowing in and of itself that intrigues me, but rather the possibility that Captain Stacy's discovery of Peter's secret is the reason for his (Peter) being considered, in Gwen's words, 'a wanted man'. I can't recall another iteration of the Spidey story in either film or television where Peter actually became a fugitive because someone discovered his secret.

Maybe I read it wrong, but I took Stacey's "you're a wanted man Peter Park" as more talking about his Spider-man alter-ego rather than Peter himself.
