Well the character was so poorly conceived and weakly developed that I doubt even he knew what he was

Well while Seven might take the more dominant role, I don't think it would be fair to label that as the male role.

Some women like the dominant role, while others prefer the more submissive role. The same goes for men.

It's about finding the right balance between the two.

Well, it is canon that the woman who gave Kim The Disease was "different" down there. On the other hand, this wasn't said about Kes. As for Seven's offer, they were in the mess hall, so it is absurd to think that this was a serious offer. Seven was calling him out for getting horny for her. The real issue is why it was supposed to be so outrageous for Kim to aspire to Seven. In pessimistic moods, it seems likely to be an issue of relative coloration (his wrong for hers.) In more optimistic moods, it seems to be an issue of metaphorical incest, between Janeway's "son" and "daughter."

I think the issue has to be resolved by Favorite Son. Viewers were repulsed in droves by this. I'm not quite sure why anyone wouldn't be amused by the vaginal doorways. But Harry Kim was quite tempted. Straight.

I'm watching/rewatching Enterprise on Netflix and it is quite striking how similar Trip and Harry Kim are, personality wise.

It a same that for Seven years Harry's character and like many of the crew on the show were not fully or never really devloped.

Other then Seven of Nine who seemsed to supper Borg chick when she arrived.

All other where just reduced to walking props.

That is one of the reason why I have found Voyager to me my most disliked Trek.

The first two years were good and then sprinkle in a few good episodes the remaining years and the rest was a waste.

Poor writing and honestly Harry seems to be such a nerdy type - Wesley Crush recieved more charcter development and he was off the show by season and had two quest slots after that.
