Best Trek Intro...

I'm trying to watch through Smallville right now. It's whiny "Somebody saaaaaaaaave meeee!" song may be the only one I know what approaches Enterprise's for sheer awfulness. But, at least in that case, I can amuse myself my singing along with "Sombody shaaaaaaave me! Don't care how you do it!"

I'm also doing a SMALLVILLE re-watch (well, I was, I'm now on season 6, I'd seen 1-5 and part of 6 before, but now am on what are for me, new episodes), and I have to agree. If there's one theme worse than ENTERPRISE (and that's saying something), it's SMALLVILLE.

Aw, c'mon! Don't you get it? It's about Clark! He'll save countless lives during his time, but sometimes even heroes need saving, too. Save him! No, I love that song/intro; cheesy as it is, it perfectly captures teenage angst while rocking out at the same time. Doesn't mean it should have lasted the whole series, but then, neither should the series. :p

Enterprise just never worked at the time. When I first watched I could see that it was doomed to failure, but since then it has grown on me and I enjoy it. But it is not like the other ST's, it does not have that Trek feel to it and the intro and music no matter how good it is could not help the show. The series got bogged down in temperal wars and the like when it should've tried to connect with TOS and maybe some parts of TNG.

TOS was doomed to failure, and Enterprise was on TV longer. So that takes care of the silly notions about which series was a TV looser. We can now close about 100 complainer threads about ENT.

TOS may have failed on TV, but it launched a gigantic sci-fi franchise. They just wrapped production on another big budget TOS movie, out next year.

Enterprise, meanwhile, is often credited with nearly killing the franchise TOS created, and very probably won't ever have any movies based on it.

Just sayin'.

Often credit so by people like you maybe. Totally unsubstantiated. And if you don't like Enterprise, why post here? And frankly, you don't know what they'll make a movie about, that's a fact.

A major motion picture about Enterprise with the cast from the show will never be made. Fact. Same goes for Voyager and DS9, which are both more popular.

maybe there's a slight possibility of one of those franchises being rebooted a-la JJ abrams style, but TNG would probably be next in line.... and I doubt that happens any time soon if ever.

Eh, I never expected to see a movie about ENT anyway. Covering the Romulan War in a movie starring Archer and crew sounded like a pipe dream, especially after Nemesis bombed in '02.

As for whether or not ENT killed the franchise, I think it was already on life support by the time ENT premiered. ENT was just its last gasps.

Agreed.

Enterprise Season 4 did a good job of trying to keep it alive, but it was too late by then.

The combination of mediocre Voyager and the sub-par movies at the same time is what did the most damage.

Then, when people saw what Enterprise had to offer, they realized it was just more of the same crap, and by the time season 4 came around, too many people had already jumped ship.

People like him? What people would those be? Enterprise was a cancelled and had poor ratings leading up to that. There has not been a Star Trek series on TV since nor has there been a movie based on Enterprise so how is this unsubstantiated?

Actually, I'm a fan of Enterprise. The third season is my favourite one of Trek, ever. But I'm not gonna pretend it was the greatest success ever when it clearly wasn't.

And, yes, I do know they're not making an Enterprise movie. I know that, once Enterprise was cancelled, plans were in motion for an Enterprise-era Romulan War film called "Star Trek: The Beginning" - which would have starred all-new characters and featured a throwaway line saying that the Enterprise was at Risa and wouldn't be able to get back in time to make a difference in the war.

Click here for a review of the script. The film was cancelled after a reshuffling at the top of Paramount Pictures, and JJ Abrams was brought in to make new movies based on The Original Series. The second of which has just wrapped production, and hits cinemas a year from today. The cast are contracted for a third movie too, should this one also prove successful.

You might very well be getting more Enterprise nods in the next film. The "Admiral Archer joke" set a precident and the Original Series was never entirely about Kirk having got there first. Quite a lot of the time, the U.S.S. Enterprise went around dealing with the legacy left behind by previous pioneers.

But they're won't be one exclusively about this show, I'm afraid. Not even a TV Movie level one.

Although I'd certainly love to see such a thing... especially set between 2157-2161. Just nothing based on that Beginning script, which was atrocious.

Spock's new uniform in this pic looks very Enterprise-influenced - one-piece, mission patch on the shoulder, department-coloured shoulder stripes, black shirt underneath etc.

Those uniforms certainly have an early days of Starfleet feel to them. Just a bit further ahead than ENT. Even got what look like department colour areas near the shoulders. They're a bit more retro 50's sci-fi, with belts and what might be a cap in Quinto's hand.

There are some pics of Spock in what seems to be a bronze coloured EV suit out there too. Maybe it's an "In a Mirror Darkly" situation, where he spacewalks across to an old starship and needs some of their clothes to change out of.

Enterprise was clostrophobic and dark with spider webs and I kept bumping my head on the ceiling.

Claustrophobic? Spider webs?!

You are obviously not looking at the right things..
