Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes season 2 discussion thread

is anyone else finding this Avengers a bit underwhelming compared to the Clone Wars show? even though i already know what's going to happen in Clone Wars i still find the Avengers far more predictable. it's weird.

Well, it's the same theme music, just without the lyrics and with a voiceover. I think the new title sequence is shorter, so they probably changed it to give themselves a few more moments of story time (or room to insert another commercial). Long main-title sequences are increasingly a thing of the past.

Yeah, most shows just show a title card for a few seconds and then run the full credits during the first act. There aren't that many shows that do a long credits sequence these days.

The voice over is nice, but then I liked the full song in season one.

Though if they fuck with the opening sequences on Iron Armoured Adventures I'm going to toss my toys.

Loved the beginning of the Kree/Skrull War. Ms. Marvel was awesome.

I wish they would go back to the old credit sequence though.

I'm getting very tempted to buy some of the last few episodes on ITunes. Would you guys says they're worth it?

Was that Ving Rhames voicing Power Man/Luke Cage in The latest episode? It was either him or someone trying to sound like him. The ending credits were squashed and unreadable because of some dumb promotion.

It was Christopher B. Duncan, who's apparently known for playing President Obama on The Tonight Show.

Thanks. I kept trying to read those tiny letters, pausing and restarting, rewinding and pausing....

Thought it was a pretty good standalone episode, although the villain and his third-tier gang were on the silly side.

I also think it's very interesting (in a good way) how they're mixing in two major plotlines (Surtur/Twilight saga and Secret Invasion) that are 25 years apart in the comics.

An 800 foot fire demon with a sword the size of a Skyscraper called "Twilight".

It's from the Simonson era "first".

We didn't know what was happening, but for the 6 months leading up to the big bad being revealed, there was just the scenario of a smithy that you couldn't really make out forging a sword, and every time his hammer would temper the blade he was forging, the onomatopoeic sound effect legeneded was "DOOM!" ... "DOOM!" ..."DOOM!"

This teasing was leading up to issue 350 where Odin and Thor are about to make their final stand when they say "Hey Loki, we know you're not a complete asshole, so why not stop Ragnorok with us?"

And he did.

I love it when the bad guys daytrip into the world of goodygoodness.
