Getting a bollywood actor to play Khan in a future star trek movie

I don't watch bollywood but i was wondering with the rise of popularity of bollywood cinema nowdays, the producers of a future star trek movie, that is set in the timeline changed by Nero in Star Trek XI, might want to cast a bollywood actor to play Khan Noonien Singh, an actual indian playing an ethnic indian character from Star Trek. Maybe with luck the Star Trek producers can even crack the bollywood cinema watching audience among whom sci fi flims may not be that popular.

And of course no singing and dancing. A straight forward sci fi movie and not a muscial .

Here are a range of candidates that i think could be considered for the role of Khan Noonien Singh.

Abhishek Bachchan

Since you listed nobody, is that some backhanded way of invalidating the whole idea of a Bollywood actor?

Just get Naveen Andrews.

Naveen Andrews is a good choice. He can play dark and moody if needed. How about that indian guy from Heroes ?

Sorry i was in the process of editing the first post to link the right weblinks to the right actor. Now the links are ready.

I am not familiar with their cinema and hence it took some time to get those links as i had to start from scratch.

You're assuming, of course, that they don't kill off Cumberbatch's Khan in this movie. ;)

I don't think it is likely Cumberbatch might be playing as Khan. He might be a TOS Klingon altered spy or an alternate universe Terran empire agent or even a rogue star fleet officer. He could play Khan but with an Anglo Indian(mixed British/Indian) background, I guess.

Cast a actual Sikh, Khan supposed ethnic group?

:)
There's no way they'd cast an actual Sikh in the role. There would be too many P's and Q's, and the rest of the alphabet they would have to follow in order to do that. If Khan is to be referred to in the movie as a Sikh, I'm betting they won't even touch that character. After that last incident, it's way too risky.

Can't tell you that; Cumberbatch is playing Khan. ;)

What?! You're kidding, right?! Tell me you're joking! You're f**king with my mind, right? Seriously, I've been staying spoiler-free for ages (and I'm the worst spoiler-hoar ever!) and now I find this?

And since when was Khan a blue-eyed English posh-totty? :scream:

If, in the future, JJ decides to have a Khan, then a Bollywood actor is certainly something that should be entertained when casting. Naveen Andrews is not a bad choice, but there a couple of the people above who 'look' the role. I like this guy: Hrithik Roshan

Oh Hrithik... hmm, I don't know. He's a good dancer, though. The best in India (MJ was his idol so you can surmise).

India has better actors, though. Even Bollywood, yes. Both Saif Khan and Akshay Khanna are good actors. But some of the regional movie industries have really good actors.

I like the idea of Naveen Andrews as well.

Can any of these guys do a Castilian accent?

A guy called Khan Noonien Singh doing a castilian accent?
He could if he was raised in Spain but i think a guy called Khan Noonien Singh would have a high chance of having a punjabi accent.

Let's face it. TOS hired Montalban to play an Indian dude. They also hired a ton of other actors to play Russians, Japanese, Vulcans (yeah) and other characters.

Heck, I was born in India and after having lived in the States for godonlyknowshowlong I don't have an Indian accent any more. Seriously, I was a kid when I came here and it only took me (and my brother) six months to lose the "Indian" accent.

Why would we expect any one in the 23rd century to have a certain bred-in-the-soil accent anyway? Believe me, they're easier to lose than socks in the dryer.

It is true that you could lose your accent after spending some time overseas.

Khan Noonien Singh could have an american or british accent. or even the accent that the USS Kelvin Captain Robau (Faran Tahir) from Star Trek XI had.

It was the 60s. Nobody knew what an Indian was supposed to look or sound like.

I would hope people are a little more hip nowadays.

I had no idea about his dancing - seeing that clip with him in it dancing shows how fit he is. When you think about it, it would make him an ideal choice (if he was able to act the part). As a race of 'superhumans' - he would be well suited in doing some of his own stunts. He can move really well. It is interesting discussing this.
As an aside, my wife says his still photo is better than his video. He is too 'boyish' in the video and they would need to harden his features. No issue, I figure, with the magic they can do with makeup.
