Good News Everyone!

"It is feasible. Society has had relationships with machines and we continue to have increasingly intimate relationships with more and more sophisticated technologies." And for the sex tourism industry, it's something to look forward to, they said. "Commercial sex robots would be free of disease and would reduce the trafficking of real people for sex work."

I'm glad to see science is finaly paying attention to the big problems in our society.

Then again, it is very disappointing to know that they haven't watched Futurama. Don't they know about Electrogonorreah: The Noisy Killer?

So I will be 84 years old when this comes to pass, so it won't be much of an issue for me.

But seriously, could you have sex with a robot?

What if you were married. Would having sex with a robot be "cheating"?

Would it end up being like "I Dated A Robot", where all society breaks down because there are no challenges, no inspirations? No motives to build great cities or create great art?

Are we truly evolved enough to incorporate meaningless, consequence-free sex on demand into our cultures?

It couldn't be cheating. It's just using a..... really creepy toy.

But my answer is no.

Sex can't be too exciting without actually having another person there for it. Can it? Totally pointless imo.

um, people have been having sex with machines for years... just because they decided to class an advanced machine as a 'robot' instead of a machine, doesn't change what it basically is...

I have nothing of value to contribute to t̶h̶i̶s̶ ̶t̶h̶r̶e̶a̶d̶ anything, so I'm just gonna post another video. :p

I wonder what the annual US spending is when you compare the sex industry to, say, climate change prevention or conservation of natural resources?

And if these sex robots were to be considered nothing more than advanced vibrators or blow-up dolls, what would the consequences be?

I was half serious about the Don't Date Robots video concept from Futurama. If they were life-like enough, would some people stop bothering with relationships? If you could construct your perfect mate, with no entanglements, no threat of disease or unwanted pregnancy, no headaches, no monthly cycle, wouldn't it follow that a certain percentage would basically become addicted and check out of society?

Given what some people do now, imagine what they would do with life-like partners with all the hassles of real human contact removed. Just ask James Franco and his dakimakura doll...

I personally think if you're paying to have sex with a robot, you're getting dangerously low on the dignity scale.
