Will 2012 be an incredibly cynical election?

I'd like to think most of Europe isn't that bloody naive and foolish, thank you very much.

I share my carefree attitude about Iran with most of Europe.
The area that started pretty much every terrible war in human history? Yeah, you guys have an amazing track record.

World War II taught us that war isn't the answer to all problems because it devastated the whole continent over silly issues like nationalism, batshit craziness. The answer was cooperation. We're more likely to favour "soft power" (diplomacy, aide) over "hard power" (military) these days. We kinda learned our lesson for the most part so your post basically had zero relevant content.

Yevetha is still wrong anyway. Iran is seen as a danger here, too. That's why various European countries are part of the diplomatic efforts to end or control Iran's nuclear programme.

There is nothing naive about assuming that Iranain leadirship wants to preserve itself.

No, what I meant was that so many Europeans wouldn't consider the fundamentalist mullahs in Tehran a threat in the first place. I refuse to believe that a continent full of fairly well educated and somewhat cosmopolitan people would look at the regime in Tehran and go "Well, they're all bark and no bite. This won't ever amount to anything."

Well, we don't panic as easily as post-9/11-America does but like I said Yevetha is still wrong. Of course there are concerns regarding Iran.

I don't see how any reasonable person isn't concerned with Iran. I don't think we need to start a war with them like America's GOP wants to, but there is an issue.

I'm not really concerned with North Korea though. They're so incompetent that they'll just blow themselves up. They're the Wiley Coyote of countries.

Last time I checked Germany is in Europe. Or do you understand geography as much as you do politics?

Lat time i checked you accused Iran being the biggest all time warmonger in the world. That is not true.

Proliferation of nuclear weapons is always a concern.

Man, the Iran issue has been discussed in my political science classes years ago and you're acting like Europe doesn't care. We're not panicking. We prefer diplomatic solutions. But it's not like we're happy to see proliferation of nuclear weapons.

It's bad enough we and the Russians have enough nuclear warheads to turn most of civilization into glass. The last thing the planet needs in the early years of the 21st century is a slew of new countries getting their hands on these things, especially if they're ruled by potentially unstable zealots who feel that God has told them to build or even use them to usher in some zany End Times bullshit.
