A Bit of an Update on "Kitumba" (Sort Of)

I think that describing Mignogna's one stated opinion in that interview ("disappointed in some of the behavior and attitudes") as "bashing" is an exaggeration at best.

As for his approach to "playing Captain Kirk..." we'll have to wait and see how that turns out.

I think Dennis is right: "disappointed in some of the behavior and attitudes" has all the outrage and acrimony of "I don't like anchovies on my pizza." Would that this is the kind of "bashing" we always get.

The situation is fluid and is evolving. More from me as this shapes up.

In regards to legality, P2 already walks a tight rope with CBS keeping there knife next to that rope. To get into a full blown court issue may invoke CBS's involvement to protect there copyright from negative press. It's always a possiblity to be sure.

I will not participate in public flame wars, bashing anyone, name calling or discussing private matters in public.

The unauthorized release has been done, it can't be undone. It is hurtful, unfortunate and sad for all of us at Phase II.
So we move on...

I only like anchovies in Caesar salad. Sadly, it's getting harder around here to find places that still offer them.

On the upside, there's finally a burger place in my neighborhood that offers avocado as a topping - not goddamned guacamole.

Despite everything that has been going on behind the scenes (which most of us can only guess at), I'm really excited to see Kitumba when the Phase II team puts it online. Anything involving both TOS and Movie Klingons in the same production is beyond cool! :klingon:

Well, at least I can say this;
The mature way the Phase II producers are handling this situation makes waiting for the official edit a little easier.
Phase II is a class act, and is worth waiting for.
:techman:

Avocado is ok, but I grok guac. :techman:

This!! Can't wait to see this episode when its done!! :)

Also waiting and looking forward to Dennis's Polaris.

I don't see what purpose any of the personal venting serves online. I don't think you can compare that one statement unfavorably to the behavior of several folks who associate themselves with Phase II here and elsewhere. Greg handles himself and the various controversies with dignity, reserve and some balance. So does James. They're rapidly becoming the exceptions.
This exactly.

Paul Sieber, BTW, does the most awesome Zapp Brannigan. I think we have him on video doing it, somewhere.
Oh, I should have a clip of that.

I don't want to get into the character of "the Director" here, as so far we've really only heard one side of this mess, so I'm loathe to tar and feather anyone without hearing their side of the story.

Totally agree. As I said upthread, the journalist in me finds all of this a bit one-sided. We're only getting one side of the story, so, like Dennis, I'm unimpressed by those not directly involved who have taken up arms and sides in all of this.

Perhaps, but I don't see what purpose it served mentioning it in the interview. It seemed a bit unnecessary to me.

Umm ... Vic was asked a direct question related to his involvement with PII. He gave a direct answer where he stated simply, as Dennis pointed out, he was "disappointed in some of the behavior and attitudes." Rather than bashing and naming names, he gave a short, simple answer to why he was no longer involved with PII.

Now I'm not one to defend Vic. His work as a voice actor hasn't really impressed me. However, his statement was quite ... let's say ... politically given. And in true Hollywood he used it as an opportunity to plug his own project.

As an aside, all this talk of riffs and rivalry between the various fan productions reminds me of that B5 vs. DS9 nonsense that fans perpetuated and JMS occasionally fueled.

I agree with Dennis, James. You and Greg have continued to be dignified and tempered on these boards, even in the face of criticism. I know I'm among those who constantly gives constructive feedback that really drills down into these episodes, so I appreciate that you both are open to that type of criticism and that you are both able to remain good-natured when there's criticism that's not so constructive.

Again, without knowing the exact nature of the agreements the parties entered into, everything we outsiders say is mere speculation, and that's a game I'm uninterested in playing.

I'm not getting involved with disputes, but Vic seems to think his new show will be of a higher calibre than Phase II, and the acting and storytelling will be better. (When you consider George Takei, Walter Koenig, David Gerrold and DC Fontana, I'm sorry but that's just taking the p**s).

Now there's this footage thing.

I can only see more snide comments building up, I really do. I don't want to get into trouble by saying this, but the man's ego seems very over-inflated.

James Cawley seems like a really nice guy, and the set in Port Henry seems like a very happy camp.

Some Phase II/Farragut folks are still friends it should be noted. Also I do enjoy Farragut Films, and I respect (and feel sorry for) most of the people there.
