Well okay but that doesn't work with the idea that they proposed this prior to knowing who she is.

I think it took 7 seasons to really get to know the REAL kathryn Janeway (7 seasons and a cameo in nemesis is too much information.), and each season before that as a check mark Kathryn had as then grown up into a...

    Oh C'mon!

We didn't see Janeways real face until Night, Year of Hell, Equinox and perhaps Fairhaven.

The character evolved over the years.

If she didn't grow, then the show is awful or she's perhaps retarded somehow like Abed in community or Sheldon in Big bang theory.

Look at her in Season One:

Does this look like the kind of woman Paris is going to be knocking socks with?

Cleveland brown said it best qualifying why Margaret Thatcher is the sexiest woman on earth...

"Power is sexy! power is sexy! Don't any of you find power sexy?"

    Besides.

I just said that shes incomplete, not unusable.

Plenty of incomplete ADULTS are usable, before they're complete, before still later they're past their due date, till still later they're expired and useless.

    Besides besides.

    Wrong Actress.

Bjold was up to bat for the first three days.

    Oh.

You meant the she was too magnificent to be tilled by his tiny boy charms?

    My bad.

Think about "Mark" for a few seconds.

that guy seemed ready for the old folkes home.

After a few years of that break neck speed passion Kathy might...

Marsha Warfield had a joke in her stand up routine.

"Young guys might look amazing, but old guys last longer. But really? Really? Now just think about that for a minute... Who the hell wants to have sex with an old guy for a really really long time?"

Mark is her type, the warm hearted handyman. Same as the Workforce guy. That's why she was a little hotter for Chakotay when he was doing handyman stuff when they were stuck on that planet. It's probably some kind of daddy thing.

This is why if you want Janeway's scientific mind and cutting insight to be fulfilled you have to pair her with 7.

    I don't believe in emoticons.

Being one of the oldest people on the ship means that she's shit out of luck looking for her daddy issues to be satiated.

This has occurred to me more than once.

However some people are quite mulit faceted. They their daddy issue desires, their toy boy desires, their super intelligent Borg babe desires. Just because there's no one like Mark doesn't mean there aren't other sides to Kathryn that can find a relationship.

Oh and the Fairhaven guy was a warm hearted handyman too.

After she got into his brain and ripped out the bits she didn't like, and added upgrades to avoid the lad stumbling across any obvious deal breakers... Am I thinking of something else, or did she make him 1 inch taller?

There was a movie with Rachel Weiss and Paul Rudd called The Shape of Things which is a modern day take on Pygmalion, except that it was an art student using sex and positive reinforcement to suggest that a dumpling loser she just met could be turned into a super stud AS HER END OF YEAR ART PROJECT!

Kathy did the same thing with the Doctor.

She learnt the same valuable lesson never to be forgotten "twice".

Is it just male holograms she has no respect or or all men?

Although deborgging Seven was out and out rape even though Seven was delusional and sick.

A bit strong in description, but I agree with the sentiment. Seven's voyage to humanity seemed more annoying to me as the series went on. As far as we know, she's been Seven since she left the maturation chamber some 16 years before Voyager ran into her. (I guess two years for development extrapolated from 'One') However long, she has little memory worth speaking of her life as Annika Hanson. I never felt the writers established why she should be giving up her Borg abilities. It seemed that it would be more like someone giving up an arm and an eye for her, rather than reclaiming her humanity as it was for Picard or others assimilated as adults.

it's always been clear that assimilation is rape, because the asimilees don't want to be assimilated, so logically the reverse has to be true if an individual Drone loves being Borg and doesn't want to be extracted from the collective... Then of course the Borg believe that because they are more enlightened than any other species that they are positive that assimilation is for the best and a gift ever, which will be adored, so really Assimilation impossibly can't be rape.

It's like a when a child refuses to take their cancer medicine because it tastes funny.

    Sometimes "you" know better.

I just felt tired of the Spock/Data gotta learn to be a human routine. I would have been far more intrigued by Seven developing herself along with her Borg capacities. Instead, we got Borg is bad, except when we need Seven's Borg abilities to be some deus ex machina.

Well, Harry said that she was the smartest human being that ever lived.

You just have to wonder if her intellect would crumble with out all that technology to support it?

From an interview with Michael Piller, from an Australian magazine from Spring 1994. Note the question and answer from the centre of the middle column (about the 'symbolic ship').

^ I love that website. I disagree about the super runabout idea, the final version we got was better; although I think a more proportional saucer/warp nacelle size would've looked better.

I always felt the final version was indeed a "Galaxy-class lite." I think it would have been interesting if they had gone with an even smaller, not so pretty design that wasn't quite like that, but I think DS9 beat them to it with the Defiant.

Male Captains need large ships to compensate for small penises and fleeting youth.

Female Captains on the other hand want smaller bottoms and children.

A galaxy class or larger would make Janeway look bloated, and that would never do.
