Darth Vader vs.-------

Vader can barely even breathe on his own. (How that's not fixable with all the tech is a mystery, but whatever this is a universe where people die from broken hearts.)

So no, not at the top of his game.

Also, vs. Dooku...Dooku would have force lightining. Vader would not. (Yes, Dooku lost his hands, but only moments before he died, so it's not a character attribute like post Mustafar Vader's missing limbs.)

that's another thing I don't understand-why shouldn't Vader have force lightning? Because he's mostly machine? Is this another "midichlorians ruined things in SW" thing because now apparently the more organic one is, the more Force power because hey, now the Force has nothing to do with willpower and mental discipline, it's all about midichlorian counts?

Mental discipline and midichlorian counts are not mutually exclusive. In fact, Vader's arc demonstrates what can happen to a highly midichlorianated but undisciplined individual.

I believe Vader's lack of organic hands is what the official explination is. IIRC, the ROTS visual guide said he can't project or defend against force lightining...the first part I can see, the second? Didn't they use lightsabers to deflect that?

"Midichlorianated"? Is that how they purify the water on Tatooine? ;)

As with most things fictional, it would depend on the writers a whole lot. I can see it being possible to construct a reasonable scenario where Vader uses his telekinetic powers to stave off an acrobatic lightsaber wielder trying to move into close quarter combat with him, and also using them to deal damage from afar, moving in only after gaining an edge or when terrain favours him. Close up though, in a straight-up duel on an even surface, it would be really hard to find a plausible way of letting Vader win against any of the prequel Jedi Masters or Sith Lords. He's so static that he needs to control the distance between him and his target.

Personally, I hated it when Count Dooku used Force Lightning in Attack of the Clones. I felt that should have been a power reserved exclusively for Emperor Palpatine. Establishing that lightsabers absorb Force Lightning was also stupid. (It makes Luke look like an idiot for throwing away his lightsaber during his showdown with the Emperor.)

Considering Force Lightning shorting out his life support WAS what killed Vader in Return of the Jedi, I don't think its unreasonable to assume that his life support unit prevents him from using Force Lightning himself. Or at least using it safely. Perhaps he could still generate it but it would damage his life support more than it would injure his opponent.

TBH, a Jedi shouldn't even need to fence - he should be in cover, controlling his saber by psychokinesis....
