March Art Challenge - Klaus

Getting close to done I think... :D

I really liked where this one was going the best. The ones with the alien head, jaws & teeth were too gimmicky, IMHO.

Nice work.

As a smart ass remark, I'd point out that Giger's Doomsday machine would probably have more vagina/vagina-dentata-like features. And tubing. Lots and lots of tubing.

ty for the feedback...

erifah: I liked the earlier version too, but I didn't think it was Alieny-enough. I tried to make a more-detailed one in C4D and import it into Bryce, but the result was too big for my old PC to deal with comfortably. :(

Potemkin_Prod: While that would certainly have been his instinct, I suspect he'd have been torn given the DM's inherently phallic nature. And as mentioned above, I wanted more tubing but it's not easy ATM.

The design I thought was quite phallic already. :)

I don't know...now it's LITERALLY looking like Alien, not Giger in general. Go back to the round mouth but with teeth all around.

Not sold on the green glow, I have to say - that's a very generic "bad guy" colour to use IMHO.

"They say there's no devil, Jim, but there is, right out of Hell. I saw it!"

If I can believe in a planet-munchin' outer space beastie, I can believe it would look like this. Nicely done.

Ty, I think the DM itself is about done, going to work on the debris field some more... Needs some molten elements.

And maybe some other color patches - remnants of forests, oceans, ice caps. Nothing as detailed as buildings but something to break up the surfaces and make them recognizable as chunks of a planet rather than just generic rocks.

^^

Well here's about the end, more variety in the debris and some tweaks to the DM's back:

Klaus, this is amazing work! I'm always looking forward to your art challenge entries, but this time I'm even more excited about it than usually because you've managed to skillfully combine my two SciFi favorites: Alien and Star Trek. Thanks a bunch! :bolian:
