DC's New 52: Reviews and Discussion (Spoilers welcolme and likely)

^ I agree...it isn't terrible, but just meh, and not what I was expecting at all.
Basically why I stopped reading. I don't pay for boring.
Superboy #7: Finally...we're getting somewhere in this book. We are starting to learn things and figure out who people are. Is this Templar person someone new, or someone from the Wildstorm Universe? Also Centerhall seems to be a new version of Guardian. NoWhere is a much more nastier version of Project Cadmus. We learn that Caitlin has infiltrated the organization (I think this was pointed out in the first couple of issues, but can't remember) and that Rose has feelings for Caitlin. Cassie's new Wonder Girl costume seems to be a cross between Donna Troy's old Troia costume and Cas' Wonder Girl costume.
Batman and Robin #7: Peter Tomasai sure likes a lot of graphic violence and blood in his books. Looks like the opening arc has wrapped, an interesting battle between Nobody and Batman, Damian gives into his urges (I'm guessing maybe he was conditioned?). I'm kind of hoping this is the case, because in the span of seven issues Tomasai has undone all the great work that Dick did with Damian. This is still not the book I thought it would be. I wonder what Morrison thinks of this direction his character has been taken in.

So, has Batman ever stabbed anyone with his cowl horns before? Because that was actually kinda awesome.
Yes, seriously. He just did it in Batman and Robin #7.
Yep...and while Bruce has used his cowl for offensive situations before...I don't recall a situation where he impaled someone quite like that...usually he avoids that.
Even the suit itself there which you'd think would be made of a stronger material than stuff Captain Kirk's tunic is made out of.

All of Bruce's suits are supposed to be weaved with kevlar. Not sure if that stuff is hard enough to impale someone...but I guess in the 52 'Verse it does. I thought it was rather over the top myself and out of character for Bruce, but given the situation and the fact that his son was involved, it makes sense.
No details...and I haven't seen a link to the actual coverage yet, but apparently Synder's next arc after the Court of Owls is going to be a "game changer". It really does seem like DC has made Scott the heir apparent to Morrison if they have given him permission to do a status quo type story arc.

Well would his entire suit be made of kevlar? What would be the point of making the ornamental bat-ears out of kevlar? Maybe he saw the "value" in using the ears in a offensive way and made them out of sterner stuff. Heck, we see in the Nolan movies that the ears are out of a hard material as they have an actual function in the suit.
Not to be cranky, but calling anyone the "heir apparent to Morrison" implies a credit to Morrison's work on Batman that he just doesn't deserve.
I disagree but yeah get the dislike of Morrison, and my comment was really referring to the "showrunner" aspect. Morrison has been really the showrunner or lead writer of the Batman books since he started his run. Snyder seems to be the one DC has appointed to take over and "Batman" will be the flagship title.
Snyder seems to DC's Brubaker, but with a more horror-centric and literary background.
Brubaker is currently writing "Captain America". He also had a long run on Uncanny X-Men before that. I believe he is an Architect? House of UIster I'm sure will correct me if I'm wrong about the latter. He did indeed work on "Batman" for three years I believe, and was the writer on Darwyn Cooke's revamp of "Catwoman" I agree with the Brubaker comparison. I was even thinking that Snyder has a little Greg Ruka in him. I doubt it would ever happen, but I'd love to see an "American Vampire" "Batman" crossover over mini-series.
