The "downgrade at coach" is much more significant than the other two problems. With the recent comments from Kobe and Bynum, it sounds like Brown could in the beginning stages of losing this team. The playoffs will tell all.Age, downgrade at coach, constant trade talk, things like that.
The Lakers are also going through a change in how they operate. Trading Lamar, passing (so far) on a trade with Cleavland that would have netted Ramon Sessions for the trade exception they have and one of their 2 first round picks, is an indication of that change. The new CBA has the Lakers being more frugal in their spending. So all those people who felt the Lakers "bought" their recent championships and that their teams could win championships too if the financial playing field was more even, will get a chance to see if their respective teams can take advantage.

I never understood the reasoning. I've been far too busy at work to ferrit it out. Why did Stern not let the Lakers have Chris Paul? I don't get it.
At first I thought you were expressing your opinion. Then when you mentioned Pau, I recalled reading quite a number of articles after the Wizards game, but I didn't read anything about Pau blaming the loss on selfishness.
Uh, yeah. This is the kind of stuff that happens sometimes when teams lose -- particularly during the regular season.Oh for Christ's sake, Thunder, this loss is INEXCUSABLE.![]()

You're up--at home--against the Houston Rockets who've dropped their last six out of seven games--you're up by 11 points with 2:20 left in the game and all of a sudden you cease playing defense of any kind.
Let the insults fly, people. I can take it. My Thunder deserve every bit of it tonight. Houston outscored the Thunder 13-1 in the last 2:20. No, I'm not making that up.
Gotta love those New York Knicks. Now that the Clippers seem halfway respectable, someone needed to inherit the mantle of league laughingstock.
I grew up loving them in the 90s during their playoff battles against Chicago, Miami, and Indy. You couldn't get a scalped ticket to a decent game at MSG in those days. Now you couldn't pay me enough to watch a game. I'm so glad I bailed on this team years ago.
This is the first step towards the Knicks' recovery. D'Antoni was one of those placeholder coaches like a Don Nelson, someone who sits at the end of the bench until you find a real coach. This team needs a strong leader, someone who can galvanize the strong personalities and talent they do have and point them in the right direction -- get them to set aside personal goals and focus on team goals.D'Antoni resigns.
Is it fair to blame Carmelo, though? Weren't the Knicks on an "easier" portion of their schedule when he was out with injury? In regards to the records of the teams they faced? Or am I reading the situation wrongly?
