Why do they still let Braga do TV shows?

Braga had 'on set issues' (and I should really leave it that that) during season 3 of Enterprise with a 'certain' cast member and was asked to pretty much asked to 'work from home' for season 4, this is on of the main reasons (the other is he's a good writer and producer) Manny's position got bumped up in Enterprise Season 4.

Oooh gossip now this thread is getting good!

It was Jolene Blalock, right? Sexual harrassment lawsuit ahoy! :rommie:

Hey, I did not say it... but you right. Jeri fell for it, but it back fired when he tryed with Jolene. No lawsuit was filed, it was delt with pretty quietly. All I will say that if Star Trek producers were like U.S. presidents, Braga would be Bill Clinton. LOL

Aw, that was too easy. I was hoping it was actually Connor Trinneer. :p

If your were a producer on the show then it would be a big problem, keep you away from Connor and Joe Flanigan on Atlantis.. lol I have seen women almost faint around Connor, he has that effect i guess.

Well, Trek did set this precedent back in the TOS days with "Mr. Casting Couch" Roddenberry, perhaps Mr. Braga thought it was expected of him :rommie:

I meant that I hoped Braga had diversified his tastes. Blalock is such an obvious target...I have higher standards in scandals nowadays. ;)

It comes from a lot of the crew on the Enterprise set (hard to keep secrets in Hollywood, even before TMZ LOL). I have heard it from about few different people who worked there. Can it be proven? No, mostly likley not, as a lot of closed door issues never are. I trust all my sources, and I have been around. ;) Braga is just very lucky it was worked out fairly quietly or his career could have been over and we would not be picking on him today. :)

A lot of these guys are just regular people that have vices like everyone else, Braga likes woman, nothing wrong with that, its just how he approachs it. Bill Clinton liked women a bit to much to, but he was still a good president. Ron Moore likes to drink and smoke weed, but at least he admits it and actually tryed to incorporate it in BSG. Nobody is perfect, myself included.

Anyways, that was 8 years ago, its in the past.

As for Terra Nova, did you see how many producers it had? The list of executive producers, line producers, producers, associate producers, etc. seemed to go on for half the first act. Something like seven of those producers constituted the writing staff, but they answered to the numerous executive producers such as Spielberg.

Why do they still let Spielberg do movies? 1941, Always, Amistad, The Lost World, Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. What an awful lot of duds on his CV!

;)

I quite liked Crystal Skull myself.:bolian:

It's still juicy, though. :D

BTW, sorry for being uninformed, but how did you get to know the people from ENT's set?

I think its a dumb but entertaining movie, that doesn't deserve half the crap it's been getting. I wonder how it would have been received, had the name Lucas not been attached to it.

Always and 1941 are meh, TLW is utter shit, and Amistad is pretty great, IMO.

Assuming it's not BS/educated guess... ;)

Can it be proven? No
Well who cares about that! Any gossip about Bakula or Trinneer (or better yet, Bakula and Trinneer? :D)

Well, that explains what happened to nuBSG. Dude, why are the Cylons trying to kill everyone? I dunno, I think I knew once but I forgot...

Oh, he did. He definitely did. :rommie: Hey, it worked for Farscape, too.

Braga must be one hell of a presenter because if he would be judged by a panel of creative experts his career would be over. But then any major decision in Hollywood is done by business managers who have nothing to do with art.. they just listen to their research and marketing groups and then make the decision based on pure numbers and on paper Braga has been with many successful shows and that's a good rep sheet to show around when pitching new shows or jockeying for some position in a new show that's looking for people.

They make their decisions based on cold, clammy fear. That's why every new crop of shows is the same kind of crap that got cancelled last season. What's the definition of madness again...?

..Well I am the co-founder or trekunited.com (Which I named 3 days after Manny's episode 'United' aired BTW :) ) we raised 3.14 million to try to save the show, during that time we got to know pretty much everyone from the cast and set crew, We had rally in front of the Paramount and was a part of a few LA and Vegas area cons that year. I also run Manny Coto's website (which I really need to update when i get some time) . Have done a bunch of web, promotional and distrubtion work for some small studios and fan sites. These days I have been helping to run some conventions, Hollywood Xpo was my last one and this year we have the Walter Koenig Star Celebration that will be a blast. :)

I'm still trying to figure out what exactly the plan was, since we were reminded about that every single episode for 3 seasons.

As for Braga, I'm not sure why he's singled out in this thread, but I've always liked the guy. He does decent work, and he's fully willing to admit when something went wrong, like Voyager's Threshold. As for the show, Threshold, I think it could have been a very good show if the premise was a bit more sustainable as a series. I think that's a problem I have with Alcatraz right now. The premise is good, but it's just really redundant. Either introduce new aspects to make it work as a series, or it's going to be just dull and cancelled.

3.14 Million? Wow...what happened to all that when the show mysteriously wasn't un-cancelled, despite your hard efforts?

Also...I liked the Lost World! (Assuming we're talking Jurassic Park: Lost world here!)

Part Jurassic Park, part Godzilla monster in a big city movie, what's not to love? :p

It was JP3 where it went wrong imo "oooh lets find a bigger and badder Dino than the T-Rex...." Bah! The T-Rex is still king!
