Destiny only Trek Trade Paperback for '12?

So far the only trade paperback announced for this is Destiny, and based off of what's been said here and in the last issue of the Star Trek magazine it apparently will be the only one. I don't know about anyone else but this really disapoints me. Over the last few years, I've really enjoyed the stuff we've been getting in the trade collections, The Mirror Universe and Myriad Universes series, and Seven Deadly Sins being highlights of each year. I was really hoping we'd get something similar this year, but it looks unlikely now.

The list in STM wasn't comprehensive; it didn't include Typhon Pact: Brinkmanship. So maybe we can't yet rule out a TPB coming along later in the year.

Oh, I thought that was the final definitive list for the year. I just assumed that since Brinkmanship wasn't on it, it must have been out first 2013 release.

No, Memory Alpha says Brinkmanship is the October book, between VGR: The Eternal Tide and Dave's TNG trilogy. The magazine's list was only as comprehensive as they were able to get it at press time.

I have a feeling those might be some of the print on demand books that S&S has started offering over the last couple years.

*cough*Crucible + extra content trade paperback please*cough*
Yes, I want that. :)

But, speaking as someone who works in Marketing, I'd wait and release that in the run-up to the next Star Trek film. Say, April or May 2013. That's the marketing moment to strike. :)

"Make it so, Number One." ;)

Someone get Ed S. on the phone!

Since I'm also an Ed S. I'll see what I can do to get this done for you.

I didn't know about Una McCormack's TP novel. I really liked The Never Ending Sacrifice. Great news.

I haven't read Destiny yet, but have the 3 novels on my to-read pile. I haven't read an Omnibus like this before. Will the Destiny Omnibus have any extras in it? I did upgrade my original DS9 relaunch noivels with the first Omnibus there b/c the 2 avatar novels were yellowing for some reason. I have no such issue with the 3 Destiny books so am curious about what the "value add" is with teh Destiny Omnibus.

If I recall, the only difference is a few small tweaks here and there. Nothing major has really been added.

In an earlier thread David posted about having done a lot of fine-tuning on the prose, improving word choices and the like.

I still hope there will be an ebook eventually.

Mass-market paperbacks generally don't use acid-free paper, so that yellowing is simply a natural process as they age (though exposure to sun speeds that up). Eventually your copies of Destiny will do the same. :)

All it needed was a new foreword or afterword and I'd have repurchased.
Well, sorry, but I didn't have time to write one, and it seemed rather self-serving to pen a foreword to my own work. I suggested some other authors to write one, but the editor chose not to pursue it. C'est la vie.

It's also why the first several years of Pocket ST MMPBs always had their cut edges dyed a vibrant yellow: so that older shelf stock wasn't noticed to be rapidly yellowing.

Sigh. I know. But you've already apologised. (And dare we not mention a certain park - which thrilled me.) :bolian:
