I was wondering what your fave rpg`s are. mine is the atelier iris series and persona 4. it can be from any consoles and pc and it doesn`t matter how old they are.,i just thought i would like to hear your faves and maybe i could get some ideas on which ones to buy next.
I don't play a lot of RPGs, but the original Fallout is definitely up there for me. Fallout 2, as well... those games had an awesome setting, and a brilliant character system. Besides them, the ones that come to mind that I invested a fair bit of time in are KOTOR and Skyrim. Deus Ex is anorther, I suppose, come to think of it.
Not a console game, but the singe best PC RPG is the late 1999 game Planescape: Torment. A game of great depth, humour and soul, and like so many that came before and since, largely ignored when it first came out and only now rightly regarded as a classic. It helps that it was made by the same people who gave us the original Fallout games.
PS1: Final Fantasy VIII and IX; Threads of Fate PS2: Final Fantasy X; Rogue Galaxy; Star Ocean: Till the End of Time; Okami PS3: Valkyria Chronicles N64: The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask Super NES: Final Fantasy IV (II) and Final Fantasy VI (III); Chrono Trigger; Super Mario RPG NES: Star Tropics; Legacy of the Wizard; Dragon Quest IV
I didn`t know there was a star ocean for the ps2 i will look into buying that one thanks. there seems to be alot of rpg`s out there.
RPGs used to be my favourite genre, but in the past five years or so I've almost completely lost interest in them. However, I do have a lot of great memories. Lufia II, Chrono Trigger, and Phantasy Star IV are the holy trilogy of RPGs as far as I'm concerned. Final Fantasy IV, Lunar: Silver Star Story Complete, and Paper Mario get an honourable mention.
I'd say my favorites of all time (consoles only) are: FF4, FF6, FF8, FF Tactics, Chrono Trigger, Chrono Cross
Highlights off the top of my head. Adventure (Atari 2600) FF1, FF3(6 Japan), FF7. Star Tropics Phantasy Star 2,4 Chrono Trigger Xenogears Skies of Arcadia Grandia II Ultima IV Deus Ex KOTOR Mass Effect
Off the top of my head: Deus Ex (and Human Revolution) (PC) Final Fantasy Tactics Advanced (GBA) Final Fantasy IV and VI (SNES, GBA) Fallout (PC) The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind (Xbox, PC) Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (Xbox, PC)
I'm surprised you didn't know about SO:TtEoT, because it is far from what you'd call 'obscure'. Here's some more RPG recommendations for the consoles I already mentioned: * The Legend of Dragoon; Lunar: Silver Star Story Complete (thanks Kelthaz; this is one I'd forgotten about); Chrono Cross (thanks Robert Maxwell; this is another one I'd forgotten about); Final Fantasy Tactics (PS1) * Arc the Lad: Twilight of the Spirits; Grandia III; Ephemeral Fantasia; Summoner; Romancing SaGa; The Mark of Kri; Mega Man X: Command Mission; Kingdom Hearts I and II; dot hack/Infection (PS2) * Faxanadu; Willow; The Guardian Legend; The Legend of Zelda: The Adventure of Link; Final Fantasy; Rygar (NES) * Lufia and Lufia II; The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past (SNES) * Fallout 3 (PS3)
i`v got star ocean for ps3 but i just digged out my ps2 i havn`t been on it for ages so i`v just started looking for any rpg games whats about.
I left The Guardian Legend off my list because I don't consider it an RPG, but it is one of my favourite games on the NES. It's nice to see someone else who is a fan of this underrated classic. Who would have thought Zelda crossed with Gradius would work well? Faxanadu and Rygar are no slouches either.
I`m really enjoying persona 4 i was in 2 minds to get it or not but i def made the right choice becouse i never heared of them before.
My favorites (all PC): Ultima VII: The Black Gate Betrayal at Krondor Baldur's Gate II Morrowind Mass Effect 2 Fallout: New Vegas
Kelthaz: I love The Guardian Legend, but am confused as to why you'd reject it as being of the RPG genre when it is clearly a hybrid of the Action RPG and Third-Person-Shooter game types, what with the weapon customization, leveling up, etc.
