Anyone else notice that Quinto's hand was doing the Vulcan Salute as he delivered the neck pinch? I'm not quibbling, I'm just wondering if Nimoy delivered it that way as well or if this something that J.J. and Quinto cooked up.

If anything the shiny material BC is wearing, reminds me of ENT era Away Team jackets. Not those blue leather ones in "Broken Bow", but those grey sort they switched to for series. Much longer though, maybe three quarter length. Probably just a 23rd Century labcoat of some kind.

In the leaked images we see Uhura holding a Phaser to him, the next image CB reacting as though hit. So yup in the completed scene he takes a hit from her then goes hand to hand with Spock.
And technically his coat is a "3/4" coat, going to the knees, a long coat or full is to the ankles. Nice one anyway though.
Unless Abrams is really a micro-manager and just directing a crew member trying to climb onto the set for a shot, Quinto (given he's the one so intently watching this guy) must eithre take a fall and climb back up onto the contraption they're on, or climb's "aboard" there. Maybe Cumberbatch falls, too, because Quinto is looking over the side of the contraption, then runs off.

Okay, been a while sense I watched Enterprise, but didn't Enterprise setup the whole TOS Klingons = infected by augment virus, or something like that?
Though, Abrams might just go with plastic surgery being the answer--if this character is a Klingon--or a hybrid (Human/Klingon).
Well Star Wars had bottomless shafts everywhere that somone was always getting chucked down, I guess Trek can have 'em too.
When Shatner started directing TV episodes of "T.J. Hooker", her described the style as "running and jumping", so when he was announced as director of ST V, we were anticipating much "running and jumping". And we got it.
In The Trouble with Tribbles, back before McCoy suddenly and mysteriously lost all knowledge on Klingon anatomy, his scan revealed the infiltrator had his internal organs "in the wrong place", any tricorder can quickly point out their insides are Klingon no matter what face they're wearing.
A ship in orbit will show a Klingon biosign, so I'm guessing this guy is Human, altered maybe in some way to resist Phasers and Vulcans, but still.
The black starfleet shirt makes me wonder who the character is, is is Gary Mitchell? or and augment? I am getting more of GM vibe than a Khan vibe. The only problem is the Gm was in the comics that Orci oversees so it kinda rules him out, or does it..hmm,

This guy is undeniably stronger than a "regular" human, but it could also be that Spock misapplied the neck pinch or his hand was pulled away before he could apply proper pressure long enough.

I'm pretty much assuming that Cumberbatch is wandering around in borrowed clothes, since they don't all match. So there's probably not much of a clue there.
Right and if its Kahn or an augment they may need cloths if they were 'sleeping' much like how Kahn had a Starfleet shirt on in Space Seed.

What is Khan really? A man out of time who is genetically engineered to be super-human. Or, in other words sort of like Captain America. A super-soldier.
What is Gary Mitchell really? An old friend of Kirk's who becomes an insane super-human demigod.
Take those two ideas, put them in a blender, and you get an old friend who becomes an insane super-human. Khan, but not-Khan.
A super-human like Captain America who may go batshit insane like the Green Goblin (another variation of the Super-soldier).
Throw in Peter Weller, who can don his Stark-like armor and become Robo-Op, or be the dude who develops the super-soldier formula...
For bonus points, the comics are doing Operation Annihilate (a weird choice). The episode that featured Kirk's brother. That same brother who had his name changed in Star Trek '09 to Johnny.
Makes as much sense as all the others being tossed around. Plus, now that the kid actors are a bit older, they can use them for flashback scenes.
