It's gonna be Khan (pretty damn sure now with the pics)

Lord Garth FOI

Commander
Red Shirt
At first I thought they might be throwing us a curve ball but I am convinced more than ever CumberKhan it is

The newest batch of spy pics over at Trekmovie show Khan physically holding off Spock with one arm and choking him with one arm (remember anyone who did that in Trek II to chekov?)

What character could be physically stronger than an enraged spock? Only one I can think of

That, the black hair, Hulk Hogan biceps and muscle neck and a borrowed(or lent) starfleetish Uniform. The fact that the guy who was originally supposed to get the role and then the other guy they considered where both Montelbonish types. Khan Khan khan

Convinced more than ever it's going to be Khan

My vote is for WNMHGB-type movie. It might work and it fits the "popular character/villain from Season 1" promise.

If Abrams and Co. were going to use "Where No Man Has Gone Before" as the basis for the sequel, that story arc wouldn't have been the launch arc for IDW's new Abrams-verse Trek comics.

Yes, the edict has traditionally been 'only what's seen on screen is canon', but with Orci being directly involved with the IDW comics (I don't believe that we've ever before had a situation where a member of the PTB behind a given Trek series or movie has been directly involved with the production of tie-in material), I think it's safe to say that the usual edicts don't apply now that the franchise is in the hands of Abrams and Co.

TherinOfAndor told me in another thread that Gary Mitchell was killed off in the IDW comic tie-in. So unless he's coming back to life as the god-thing, it ain't gonna happen.

I need to find those comics and read them. I read the first tie-ins.

Yeah, everything but his skin color screams Khan to me.

"Screams Khan?" Love it.

Sorry, but nothing in this picture so much as whispers Khan to me. It's just a somewhat Britishy lookin' dude, wearing what looks to be a gray-ish business suit over a black Starfleet undershirt.

Cumberbatch looks like a Starfleet lawyer or accountant, rather than a genetically tinkered superman from another century.

I'm guessing that he's playing an alternate universe version of Arne Darvin or another of his ilk, and it that is the case, then the Klingons are the big bad in this one.
