For many years on this board I've posted about how a cheaper way to get classic Trek back on TV would be an animated series set post TMP (so it wouldn't look TOO dated). I always figured they could use the original actors to do voices but that's obviously asking a lot these days as those folks are getting elderly or departing. I thought the TMP era had lots of storytelling potential.

Can we change the uniforms?

I think there's a good chance we'll see one if the next movie's a success. But I think it'll be Saturday morning kids fluff, like Iron Man or Stargate Infinity, and not something respectable.

I'd like to be proven wrong.

I am afraid this is what will happen too. I would not mind if they fixed up the old cartoon with new animations instead.

Maybe they could to a test -- make a direct to video feature, it could add buzz to the coming film. If the video does very well, there could be an ongoing series.

CBS is still not too removed from it's old Paramount partners, maybe this could be done by the folks at Dreamworks. They're good at making kid friendly fare that is also interesting for the adults.

Shatner would do it in a heartbeat!

Yes. Yes, they are. No love lost there.

But Paramount wouldn't have anything to do with a TV series. They have movie rights, not TV.
