I only watched the first 3 episodes of DS9, so I'm ignorant about most of it and especially the Dominion. Where can I get the executive summary? Thanks

Memory Alpha would probably give you the most comprehensive summary of the show. You can look up historical event articles about the war itself, which will link to other pages (episode summaries, key players, etc)

This would probably be a good place to start:

All this talk about calling red alert... I thought Andrews did that as soon as the ships came through and she realised what they were? Or am I mistaken?

And yeah, the Jem'Hadar have been seen to beam over long distances (Third Talak'Talan, anyone?), and through shields and forcefields.

As to the station being on a war footing, well, the Jem'Hadar would be expecting that.

And for those saying "Why didn't they call the Founders?" Well, I seem to recall mention of queries to the Founders when the bug ships started appearing going unanswered, and the full armada didn't exactly leave much time for a further contact with the Great Link prior to attacking.

Hmm, memory is a bit fuzzy on the beaming through shields it, thanks. Then again, the answer seems to be 'sometimes'. Kinda like how the Defiant can take on any uber-ship it wants, unless the writers wanna show off a new bad guy, in which case, it gets one-shotted :)

As for calling the Founders, yeah, obviously too much happening right then and there. Was thinking more once they got away on that one. When the Vorta was going through her 'claim this for the Dominion' speach, I'd have just told her she should check with the Dominion first...

If you get the chance, you should really give DS9 a shot. It is one of the best trek series.

Yes. watch it.
I am rewatching it now and I love how the Dominion gets forshadowed even as early as early season 2 episodes!

Yeah the whole growing dread over the second and third seasons is really well done.

To be fair though only us players know where the fleet came from, ingame everyone probably thinks this is a Dominion invasion as the only evidence from the missing fleet is the empty ships that were recently found which they think might be from that fleet.

That's a fair point. Suppose the next move would still be to call the Founders and ask WTF and why are they breaking the truce, which they would deny, and then you'd get to the bottom of things.

Unless they decide that they finally had an advantage again, and then the war's back on...

Which is why I suspect we will be sent to the Gamma quadrant in the third episode to make contact with hopfully Odo.

Awesome!
