to post for Feb 14 for all the ladies who unintentionally ripped my heart out or unintentionally kicked me in the balls.
(the silent "no" hurts just as much if not worse than a "sorry I have a boyfriend.")

Wouldn't an "ANTI-Anti-Valentines Day" simply be a "Valentines Day"?

Stop being passive-aggressive and do not vaguebook---this is why people hate Facebook. Stop being a slave to the day and its supposed concept and plan out a fun day for yourself. If you have particular beef with people, take it up with them privately, like an adult.

This is community of sharing--that's the whole WORLD WIDE part of the web. Don't rip on him b/c he decided to share, just if you didn't like what he shared. If you don't care for it, just ignore it. Besides, this day can be challenging for many. It doesn't necessarily mean they are a slave, it just means they own a heart that beats. And brother have we all been their! :sigh:

It's still slightly dickish to blame someone else for not liking you enough. People can't help their feelings. We've all experiences unrequited love at one point or another but it would be wrong to blame the people we fell in love with for not having the same feelings. That would be extremely passive-aggressive.

Not to mention unloving!

Well to be fair Valentines day can be rather deperssing for some (to varying degrees). as mentioned above unrequeinted love, a love than has passed on, not having someone to love etc...

There's an Anti-Valentine's Day party going on around here where people will make lotion and get massages and also throw darts at pics of their exes, while drinking. I swear I am not making this up.

To get all flustered over Valentine's Day is still a symptom of being affected by it. It shows that the day is a threat to you, so to speak. If you don't like the day, then fine, but act as if it's harmless. Because it is.

As commercialized as Valentine's Day is, that is ALL it is - just an excuse to sell cards, candy and flowers. For single people, that is no threat - they don't have to buy a thing. It's not meant to make fun of anyone. Single people have nothing to fear from that day.

Welcome to our next segment of "I Have Problems With Women".

Stop wasting your time on Facebook, and ask a random girl out that day.

Valentine's Day is a crock of shit. A good day for me to stay home, sit in my pajamas and basically say "fuck it."

Yeah it's not like Christmas, it iS completely avoidable. Well maybe there is more fuss made in the US about it, here it barely registers.

It gets a lot of airplay in the U.S., both commercially and as a personal, romantic type day. I'm always alone on Valentine's Day, but I do remember and acknowledge it for one specific reason. Still, the "wub wub wub" commercials can be really grating.

I would also like to negate the "it's just about selling boxes of chocolates."

I used to work in a candy shoppe that sold fine chocolates from all over the world. Valentines was in fact the fourth busiest time of the year behind Christmas, Easter, and Mother's Day.

The reason, I've often suspected, is because those who actually "get it" make the effort.

^Not sure I'm following your logic aren't you in fact supporting the theory that is about selling chocolates? Out of the 365(6) days in a year, it's the 4th busiest, what's the 5th busiest the 13th of Februrary?

Or a guy, if you're female.

Though to be fair it's not always as easy at it to say. The more outgoing personality types find it easy to ask people out, the less outgoing personality types less easy.

I can understand why people don't like this holiday. In some ways, our society is very centered around couples and being in a relationship=happiness. This isn't true, of course, and I hope that people find a way to enjoy the day or ignore it as they like. Personally, I think it's a great day to appreciate people in your life.

Too bad it can't be "tell someone you love them" rather than "tell someone you love them romantically".

Why can't it be?

Oh and pssst, it's the last day to send messages through us, teacake.
