For those who complain about lens flare.

Now, I'm not saying that the quantity of lens flare in JJ's movies is a good thing, I do believe that it is acceptable in one way: I know that personally, my eye experiences lens "flare when" looking at very bright objects, for example a streetlight on a dark freeway. It doesn't really look all that different.

So basically, it's a different camera style. Stop whining and enjoy the ships shooting at each other!

Did I make it?

Perhaps one day we'll get a advanced "DVD" where you can opt out of the lens flare.

Just go through the menu and toggle: Lens Flare (no).

:)

Lens flare forever!

"Kh-a-a-a-a-a-an!"

Imagine Chris Pine screaming that immortal line with plenty of lens flare! Trekkie Nirvana!

Bit hard to enjoy what I can't see, innit?

If anyone saw the DVD extras, they know how much JJ loves the lens flares. They'll be a part of Star Trek for as long as he directs.

"Nice flare!"

First time watching the movie I didn't pay much attention to them. Now when i rewatch the film they stick out like sore thumbs. They are used way to frequently and in some obnoxious places. JJ admitted that he did go over board in adding them. He also said that none of them were interjected after shooting the scenes. I'm not master at photoshop, but I call bs on that.

The most recent I heard it was in 'The Two Towers', during the siege of Helm's Deep. The weird thing is, I've seen that film at least half a dozen times and that was the first time I really focused on the scream.
