The Phantom Menace 3D Release

Some theaters are showing the re-release in 2D, so if you just want the big-screen experience and don't care about the 3D, there is that option.

Interesting thoughts, gentlebeings. I still do not know when I am going to see this, as the making of the plans has been left in the capable hands of my best friend. I hope we will be able to go some weekend. I never saw it in 1999 in theater due to personal illness so this will be quite the treat.

Lovely. The first movie is going to be dubbed here in Sweden. A fate usually only awarded children movies.

Given the option I'd prefer to see the 3-D version. If I want to see the 2-D incarnation of the movie I can just stay home and pop in my DVD or BluRay without spending an extra penny.

I had a buddy once who chastised me for doing so by saying "you're taking money out of the theater's hands doing that! It's like cheating and it's not right! You didn't buy that stuff from them!"

God.

I can only imagine how he feels about downloading.

Needless to say, they never found where I hid his body.

Hopefully you chopped him up and marinated the pieces in a nice sauce for a while before cooking them and consuming them in the theater during various movies.

I loved the guy. He meant well. But he was an anal-retentive stickler for "the rules" and an occasional wet blanket. He equated not following a movie theater's preferences(they weren't even set rules at that time) with violating some moral code or breaking a law. Like I said, I loved the guy. Most people did. But he could be an incredible stick in the mud when he wanted. :D

And no...I didn't kill him. I savagely beat him into a month-long coma. But I didn't kill the guy.

To quote Jim Carrey's Riddler: "If you kill him...HE WON'T LEARN NOTHIN'!"

I have no problem shelling out big bucks when I go to the theater, because I hardly go. I only go for movies I will totally enjoy watching on a huge screen.

Last thing I saw in the theater was Green Lantern 3D, and I think I ended up paying $100cnd for me, my dad and my bro. This price is not unusual for me. I have seen a couple of movies several times. Batman Begins I saw 11 times, Dark Knight I saw 3 times. 2012 I saw 5 times (now own all 3 on Blu-ray)

I don't mind paying for the film and food, etc, but I have to want to see the movie REALLY BAD. I only saw the first Transformers in the theater, and other than the fights, it sucked ass. I haven't seen the second one, and I blind bought the 3rd Blu-ray and was dissapointed. I saw Hancock in the theater and it sucked ass, never to be seen again.

I own the original Star Wars Trilogy on Blu-ray. I have AOTC on DVD (and I originally only got it for the scenes in Corruscant (sp?). Not worth getting the BD version just for that. I saw ROTS once and it sucked ass. TPM doesn't even register as a blip for me interest wise.

If anyone here besides me collects STAR WARS action figures, now is the time to head to the big-box retailers and the toy stores. There's a slew of excellently-sculpted new figures hitting shelves based not only on the 3-D release of Episode I but some of the other films and the CLONE WARS animated series as well. There's a little bit of everything with new stuff showing up almost every other day.

People are paying for something they enjoy. These rereleases are for fans, those who don't care about them can ignore them.
This. In the end, it's my money to spend, and how I spend it is no one else's business.

I find it funny that the TV ads for the 3D release are now using OT scenes.

"You won't see some of this stuff until 2016... but in a few days you can see TPM!"

Good grief!!! Hasn't George Lucas had enough money out of us????
And everyone who bought the'ultimate' Blu-Ray set while buy it all over again. :klingon: I'm going home to play Klingon Boggle! :vulcan:

wait, people are going to pay to see this crap again?
Qft, man.

People are bitching about this again?

I know, right?! I hate it when his goons come to my house, force me to go to the movie theater to buy a ticket. Then, I just know, they will force me to go to the store and demand that I buy the blu-ray box set. Damn you, Lucas, for making me give you my money!

Oh, wait. None of that happened. I forgot, I control what I want to spend my money on.

is the 3d more expensive?

No, it is actually cheaper and they give you free popcorn. Some places even do door prizes.
