I have ABSOLUTELY no idea for a theme, nor do I particularly want to do the thead, so I'll bow out and let Temis take this one.

Here are a couple ideas...
Invisibility (not exactly the same thing and saying that the thing in the avatar is invisible...)
Actual Size (all avatars must depict something/someone who actually fits into 150x150 pixels.)
Or, since V-Day is just around the corner, we could go back to 2004 and reprise the very first contest topic, SF/F Couples.

I think invisibility would be the better choice---more options there: Harry Potter's cloak, the Invisible Man, a de-cloaking Romulan vessel, a ghost, etc.
