I had no idea people actually did this until I randomly came across it online. This has to be worse than people who dress their pets. Anyone ever see one of these repainted animals in person? Artificially coloring animals is actually illegal in some states.

Apparently this is something poodle owners do a lot of for dog shows. In China, the popular animal transformation is the panda:

And then there are the owners who take this to a whole different level:

The tiger, cheetah and panda look quite embarrassed by the whole thing.

You get anywhere near my dog and try to do that and you'll get some free dental work from a lead pipe.

All that dye can't be good for them, and humans who dye their hair are advised to keep it well away from their face and eyes; I assume it is just as risky for smaller animals. I rather worry for the poor animals' health.

The first two look a bit photoshopped. For the dogs' sake I hope they are anyway

At least these dogs appear to be clean and well fed. I'd rather see a dog trimmed/colored like this than abandoned to fend for itself.

Very reluctantly agree. But I'd rather not see either at all.

That really should be considered animal abuse and I find it disgusting.

I hate this! As for dressing dogs, I don't really care for that either. On the other hand, it was minus 3 here this morning when I took my jack russell out for a walk and so I put a jacket on her.

Assuming a non-toxic dye was used, why would this be considered abuse? Stupid as hell, sure, but abuse? :wtf:

God it's so tough to respond to this because I have to take into account necessary things like grooming, maybe shedding of hair, stuff like that. I guess the problem I have is it changes the characteristic of the pet as part of a joke. If the Dye is permanent, that pet has to live with this for the rest of his/her days and considering it was done in a jokingly/laughing matter, I would consider that abuse.
