I've always thought that of the major/main antagonist races of Trek, the Cardassians would be perfect to ally themselves with the Federation next, (similar to the Klingons, and somewhat less so the Ferengi Alliance)

They already did, and just as much so as the Ferengi Alliance. Both the Cardassian Union and the Ferengi Alliance were signatories to the expanded Khitomer Accords as of Typhon Pact: The Struggle Within.

Ha. I think you just spoiled your own book.

I don't have an e-reader, so I've been lax about getting the latest e-book releases.

Oh, Christopher... How I wish I could get a peek inside your mind at all you know about the future of the novel line.

I don't actually know that much. There are only a couple of these upcoming projects that I'm in the loop on to any extent because their authors have sought me out for consultation.

This is fantastic news. While anything new from Una McCormack is great news, I do hope she's focusing on the Cardassians again. I've been itching for a Cardassian-centric story during the Typhon Pact "era" for ages now and to see what Garak makes of the whole situation.

Definitely looking forward to this. Una hasn't disappointed me yet (neither with her Star Trek stuff, nor with her Doctor Who stuff), so I'm sure it will be great no matter if it features Cardassians or not.

BTW: I have already talked to her, and there will be an Unreality SF interview with Una in the months closer to this book's release (most likely in August or September) if everything goes according to plan.
