Eternity Clock named one of 12 games to watch by Sony

Only the first LEGO Star Wars is great, and then only the original Xbox/PS2 version. LEGO Star Wars II is just good, because they made it overly complicated with the cooperative modes. (And retrospectively adding them in LEGO Star Wars: The Original Saga to the first game, plus the bonus levels, was like urinating in soup.) And LEGO Star Wars III is not fun.

I've only tried the demo of the first Harry Potter one - it seemed OK.
Much closer to the first LEGO Star Wars than any of the subsequent games.

I like the fact the Potter game is actually a spoof of the movies. I thought it was just reinventing the wheel from the other games based on the films, but my dad and I were surprised to see the jokes and poking fun at the franchise. Is Star Wars LEGO like that too? Doctor Who would be great for the LEGO treatment because it often winks at the audience a bit, too. I thought LEGO Potter was just for Wii but the other day I saw the two games are on PS3 as well so they're the queue now.

Oh, definitely. The games take the piss out of Obi-Wan pretty hardcore, and the Vader transformation/Luke-Leia birth scene is hilarious in the game.

If you have the chance, check out the LEGO Star Wars movie, The Padawan Menace. For my money, that's the best of the Prequel movies. :)

I wasn't sure what to make of the LEGO games at first

Lego Star Wars is great, Lego Indiana Jones is good, Lego Batman sucks ass.
I loved LEGO Batman myself. And I can't believe that idea of LEGO DW never crossed my mind, that would be awesome. And I do have to admit, as much as I am excited by the idea of a DW video game, the gameplay sequences in the trailer were quite underwhelming. As much fun as it could be to play as the Doctor, I really think a DW game would work better if they went for more of an RPG blank slate companion character. I know I'd have more fun interacting with the Doctor than just watching cutscenes.

Didn't Three Starkers Doctors post a pic of a set of Lego-looking Doctors 1 -11, that he used 3 of for his Christmas Avatar?

EDIT: Yea, post 276

They made the figures, I can't imagine they'd be barred from making a moving picture with them (Of course LEGO won't be able to be used, but, the name isn't what matters, IMHO)

Of course this assumes that partnering with "actual" LEGO isn't feasible

It isn't. LEGO, when contacted in the past about Doctor Who, has said that the series isn't visible enough in North America for LEGO Doctor Who to be viable.

For right now, Character Options has the "building" license, and they've produced a nice series of Doctor Who Character Building sets. (The only thing that isn't LEGO, besides the name on the box, about them is the minifigs which have a slightly different look. To the touch, they're very LEGO-esque.) The video on this page has a definite LEGO Star Wars video game vibe.

I think a LEGO-esque game, using the Character Building figure and world designs, would be viable. If Traveller's Tales weren't interested, there would surely be another game studio in Britain that could give it a shot.

Which doesn't make sense, if you think about it. I mean are they going to restrict themselves forever to things like Potter and Star Wars? It's a myth that Doctor Who is "invisible" in North America - as we all know it's been airing in the US for 40 years as of this year (if you date back to Pertwee's episodes being syndicated). And it's well known enough that it has joined the cache of cultural references scriptwriters for shows like CSI, NCIS, The Simpsons, etc. draw upon. What would it take for Lego to see sense? Hell, if they're that concerned about the US market, then ignore the US market and just make a Doctor Who Lego game for the UK market; they'd clean up. Sure we'd complain here in North America, but they'd clean up.

I don't disagree with you at all. In fact, I've long argued that LEGO Doctor Who would be a unique "fit" in the worlds of LEGO because it would be the line that could transcend the boundaries between all the the lines. You could take the LEGO Doctor and play with him in LEGO Star Wars or LEGO Castle, the TARDIS could land in the base of LEGO Atlantis, there could be a LEGO Dalek invasion of LEGO City, etc.

The thing with the recent license acquisitions by LEGO is that they're skewing older than the typical 7-12 age range that used to come on Town, Space, and Castle. The Lord of the Rings isn't a 7-12 concept, Pirates of the Caribbean isn't a 7-12 concept, so I think that, now, LEGO Doctor Who could fit the direction the company is going, were it not for another company currently holding the "building" license.

Like I said earlier, I don't see any reason that a developer couldn't make a LEGO-esque Doctor Who game. Make it a 3-D platformer with the look like the Doctor Who Character Building stuff, and you're there. :)
