I was surprised who uncrowded the theatre was. The wife and I showed up a bit early just to make sure we had seats and we ended up having our choice.
The movie made good use of the 3D, with me actually jumping a couple of times during some "made for 3D scenes"... However, that said, I really found no use for the 3D in this movie. I am really starting to hate the fact that they do it just to do it and then not give us a choice to see it in 2D..
I have to say that without the glasses on, the film was still pretty clear and easy to watch.. I'm guessing the technology has come so far as there's almost no difference between having the glasses on and not?
The story was ok but obviously a set up for future movies.. Basically a way to re-establish the characters rather than re-boot the franchise altogether. The action was fun but the vamps (even the male lead vamp) were cookie cutter.
It had me thinking that this (if it had happened when vampires were just starting to be all the rage, pre-Twilight and True Blood) would make a good TV show.
