Looks like I just became the third vote for 'Excellent'. It certainly has taken this season a while to find its stride, but we're off and running now.

And on that note, I'm about to run off to bed and call it a night. It's been fun and I'll see you good folks next week.

:techman:

I really enjoyed tonight's episode. The Walters and Peter scenes really resonated tonight! Orla Brady offering Walter his "White Tulip" was beautiful. While I can't give everyone the Emmy awards they deserve, I can give them an excellent vote.

So we have our Main characters which we haven't seen this season, then there are the Alt characters which we also haven't seen this season. We have Main 2 and Alt 2 characters for this season, so far. Now Peter has been in all 4 universes. The Observers don't belong to any one universe, but seem to belong to all universes.

I'm glad Walter is finally going to help Peter. I did not expect his wife from the alternate universe to play a role in that but I'm glad she did.

I have this theory that it may take more than the Machine to bring Peter back to his original timeline and that may be Olivia's death for some reason.

The shapeshifter problem is becoming a common cause for both universes to work together on. I'm loving every moment of this plot development which has given the fourth season more of a compelling energy.

Like I said a while ago, I suspect Nina to be a shapeshifter. But I'm curious what Jones's plan for Olivia is.

I'm wondering why Olivia hasn't told anyone about her meeting with the Observer and him telling her that she was going to die.

Meanwhile at the Galactica's CIC...

Hey, Pete, you lost a universe but unlike Lincoln's partner, they're all still alive.

Great scenes.

Jackson and Gable work well with each other.

Yeah, they've got some real good chemistry together.

Haven't seen much from alt-Astrid but looks like the actress is trying to give her a bit of a different personality like we've seen in the others.

I read that she plays alt-Astrid as having Aspergers. heh, found an article about that: http://specialchildren.about.com/b/2010/09/10/fringes-alternate-astrid-has-aspergers.htm

I know I've said this a million times... John Noble deserves a damnned Emmy! The way he's shown so many facets of this character... It's a crime he hasn't been nominated.

Whoever is running the Emmys is totally out of it. sure, Fringe is a low rated show but c'mon...nominate Noble you idjits!

- edit -

Kudos to Jared Harris. That guy can be as creepy as hell and man, can he chew the scenery or what?

I did like the alt-Elizabeth/Walter Bishop talk. It is really telling that even though it is Walter that suffered the most from his crime and it took a significant beat from the alt-Elizabeth Bishop to forgive him. Then there was the open cheer from Peter when his father (not biological) came through.

In the end, the underlining theme is the father/son relationship. However, I wonder what happened to Charlie Francis. I suppose he's off with the bug lady?

And, if the alt-Elizabeth was old in Season 3 why is she young in Season 4?

The actor who plays Charlie is on another network, but that show got canceled and the episodes are being burned off, so maybe he can come back now.

I certainly hope so. I miss Charlie.

Another great episode. I wasn't shocked by the Nina revelation, but the question is who is working for who? I still expect someone else is higher up. Have we learned what happened to William Bell in the alternate timeline of our universe (or the alternate timeline of their universe Bell for the matter)?

I've come to like the alt-universe Fringe team a whole lot more than the originals! Fauxlivia is an absolute delight to watch.

That's about the way I see it as well. It lends a lot of credence to the general theory of multi-world interpretation, while allowing the actors to be able to show various facets of their characters, depending on which 'verse we're in.

Save for Peter, who is the one constant. Technically, he's not supposed to exist in any universe, yet he does, and he's the same person no matter where he goes.

Peter's the lynchpin to the whole thing, the key to solving the mystery of the larger picture.

All we know for sure is that he's dead in the C-universe (which is our universe in the new timeline), simply because Walter made mention of it earlier in the season. He did not mention the manner of Belly's death in this version of reality, so as far as I'm concerned, there's every possibility that Bell could come back, if Abrams could sweet-talk Nimoy into doing it one more time. I mean hell, if a version of Jones can return in this reality, why not Bell? The door is open, especially since we only have Walter's word for it that Bell is dead here. Walter may believe that he's dead, but that might not be the truth of the matter.

Ackinowledging that Peter has a mother was a winning move. Fring is always much better when it's not all about Olivia. Very good.

The Observer has of course announced that it's all about Olivia. I expect that Jones will be down pedaled as that gets pursued. And Peter will not succeed in opposing Jones, because Peter never succeeds in anything, not even saving two universes. After all, they're missing in action, aren't they? Peter's pretty sure that the two he's been in are another, separate two, but there's an excellent chance these are just the two he's fucked up with his failure with the machine.

The origins of said machine are still completely mysterious (aka illogical even in context.)

Still, I've enjoyed the last two episodes, so I'll take what I can.:)

love it, absolutely fantastic episode...

though i'm now positive about the 4th (3rd?) universe... at the end, when he was typing on the computer, in the yellow universe, the text was yellow... and Nina responded in green text...

Definitely sure another universe is at play here

Definitely sure another universe is at play here

My theory, as I posted last week is this: The whole of reality is a series of dual-universes, stacked on top of each other and extending into infinity. Hypothetically speaking, let's say that the original two we saw in Seasons 1 - 3, ours and the alt-verse, are at the top of this of spatial spindle of dual realities. Below them are Universe C and Universe D, in which Peter and we, the audience now find ourselves in. C and D are similar to each other but with differences, and both are different than their A and B counterparts.

My theory is that the further down this spindle you go, the layers of dual universes become more and more divergent from the 'top' layer, to the point where 500 or a thousand layers down, they bear no resemblance to 'our' universe at all, but each dual universe still bears a resemblance to each other.

So no, I don't think that Peter's two universes are gone; he's fallen out of them, down to another 'layer' in the spatial tier, in which he died as a child in both of those dual realities (C & D). Clearly, the Observers have the ability to move through-out ALL of reality, regardless of which tier the dual universes reside on.

(Please bear in mind this is just a simplified version of what would probably be a much more complicated theory in real physics... I offer the three-dimensional model of an infinite 'tier' with dual universes as a way in which to visualize the general theory).
