Rare Photos: January 2012

Frontier

Vice Admiral
Admiral
2012

Some say that all the world will end this year, some say those who say such are crack-pots.

Which will it be?

Tune in this December 21st to find out!

:p

Mean time... enjoy some goodies!

My Favorites:
1st Row, Left: The Bridge of the Enterprise, NCC-1701-E. Mmm god that's one sexy ass bridge!

3rd Row, Right: Freaky looking publicity photo of Data from season 1.

4th Row, Left: Group shot of all of Khan's henchmen (and women) from Wrath of Khan.

5th Row, Right: Quark getting some quality time with two Risan women!

Which Ones Are Your Favorites and Why? Hearing Such is Like Applause to Me!

:)

Some awesome pics this month, Froniter. I love the shot of the empty bridge, Khan's people and Archer.

Happy New Year, Frontier! Some Trek rarities are definitely a nice way of starting a year, especially one so fraught with trepidation as 2012.

Favorites:
1st row, left - awesome pic of the Big E's bridge. As much as I loved the D, I have to admit the Enterprise-E was one beautiful ship inside out. The interiors were definitely better.
2nd row, center - I could kiss you for this, Frontier!:p I adore Klingon Archer! He looked amazing with those ridges. :adore: I wish he could have kept them for more than a few scenes. (Hope you don't mind, but I can't resist using a cropped version as my av.)
6th row, center - pristine profile of Spock.

This is a great selection this month. My favourites are the bridge of the E (my favourite Enterprise), KlingonArcher, the two behind-the-scenes-shots with Spock in them, the shot from "In A Mirror Darkly" (I think the TOS ship interiors and uniforms looked really good in that episode) and I chuckled at Kirk with the Enterprise model.

My favorites this month:

1st row, left - bridge shot. I want to be on that bridge.
1st row, right - Seven of Nine/Jeri Ryan. Enough said.

The Data publicity photo creeps me out.

3rd Row:
Andy Robinson and Rick Berman (?)
Gates McFadden - underrated Star Trek Babe

Bottom Row:
Grace Lee Whitney's legendary beehive hair

Wow...that's the creepiest "family photo" I've seen in while.

And Rand is making an awkward face. I bet htat photo was never used in publicity...

Finally found my TMP contact proof sheets today, bought in a charity auction in about 1990. I have twenty sheets, with about 27 pics per sheet.

If I had them here, I could scan them and photoshop fix a couple up so that one of those tiny pics would be a good 1000 pixels or so. A lot of the rejected Voyager publicity photos I've done over the years where from contact sheets. ;)

Scanners are certainly better than they used to be; I've worked on a few other contact sheets in recent years.

I was let down by a TV studio once, who sent me tiny b/w stills as a contact sheet of a TV appearance I'd made on a chat show - but, when I tried to order some full colour 8x10s, they'd lost contact with their former studio photographer. A friend was able to blow the sheet up up significantly.

Similarly, some b/w shots from the Sydney premiere night of ST II. That photographer sent me one 8x10 pic of me in costume and a proof sheet (to order other pics), but when I went to his studio to order I was told by his employers that I'd need a clearance letter from Paramount Australia, and that they hoped he had not already given me any prints. Sigh. I've made some nice images out of that sheet.

I do intend to have a play with these. There are some great stills of the aliens, the "wing walk", Ilia helping Chekov's pain, Spock and the airlock technician, someone's birthday party, Kirk and Scott in the shuttle - and some great shots of engineering extras resting on slant boards between scenes.
