So, the colors I picked for you are working well then. AWESOME! Looks like you just need a couple more curved pieces to put in over the viewscreen.

    But, EXCELLENT JOB!!! :techman::techman::techman:

I only wish I coulda been there to help.....

We need to attach some catches on the very thin wood used on the curved pieces. It's too thin to hold staples or screws. We have been using liquid nail but the last few trys it didn't hold. I've never seen liquid nail just snap before, the wood always breaks first. I think it may be freezing before it drys and then doesn't cure.

And I wish you were here too. Could use some guidance.

    Great news.
Now get a renters aggrement signed with this new warehouse owner and some insurance. Too many times I've read about one fan group after another who lose out before they finnish the first episode.

Already working on a contract. The guy is not really making anything from this, it's more like it would be cool to have this in my building. We are going to take it cautiously and make sure both side are happy with the contract before rushing in to sign anything.

    Sounds like a good plan.

That's probably the case. You'll need to add some hard attachment points, as you're planning.

I'm always just a phone call away! ;)

But you can't draw me a picture over the phone. The crayons mess up the screen.

If he has a scanner, he can draw you a picture, and send you the jpeg. Or, he can photograph it with a cell phone and transmit it that way.

Or you could try a skype video conference or Go To Meeting, which allows screen sharing. :)

Just wanted to say the bridge is shaping up nicely judging from the Facebook pics. Just one question, the viewscreen looks smaller than normal in some of the shots, for example from behind the helm/navigation console. Maybe just a trick of the camera?

It's just in the pic. It does look rather odd there but looks correct in person. Robert went to a lot of trouble to duplicate it as closely as possible and although you can't make it out in the photo all of the feature lines and beveled edges look spot on.

When I get home tonight I'll post some of the new facebook photos here.

That's a side effect of the lens you used on the camera. I'm not sure what you're using to photograph it, but you want to make sure you take lenses into consideration when you actually shoot on the set. I'm a big fan of the widescreen lens, which makes my little 12-foot bridge look a lot less cramped!

It's always worth reposting this picture to show how tiny things look when different lenses are used--even when they haven't been moved any farther from the camera:

That's a great picture, very informative. It's hard to say just how different the effect will be until your see it demonstrated like this.

Tim was using what appeared to be a no frills digital camera that day. Didn't have interchangeable lenses or anything. He may have been using a wide angle setting which created the effect.

Yeah -- often the digital cameras have a portrait mode or a landscape mode. You can definitely see the difference on the spot. If you have a chance, try experimenting. It's fun and it'll give you a little experience when you start shooting for real as far as camera setups go.

It's worth noting that the camera actually is in a different place for each of those photos. The placement was altered so that the pink bottle appears the same size in each shot, to emphasize the effect that longer focal lengths make the subjects appear closer together while shorter focal lengths make the subjects appear farther away from one another.

The narrative implications of this being pretty obvious. If you want two people to subconsciously seem disconnected, you're going to use a shorter focal length in an OTS shot, to use one example.
