When Does Babylon 5 not get boring?? lol...

Well I would say if you REALLY think it's boring, maybe you should just give up.

But if you did enjoy some parts of it, I would say keep going until at least middle of Season 2. Around there, the series makes a perceptible shift away from the episodic format towards the more "dramatic" grand-scale epic stuff.

It gets much better as soon as Bruce Boxleitner takes over from "The Incredible Wooden Man" aka Michael O'Hare.

I'll take issue with that. I prefer O'Hare to Boxleitner.

For one, neither actor is Deniro or Hoffman, and second, Boxleitner had a lot of real ham in the show, so I think people acting like he was so far above O'Hare is just BS.

I like ham much more than sawdust, which was about how dry O'Hare's delivery of practically every line was.

None the less you are entitled to your own opinion.

Even when it's wrong. :p ;)

I'm a B5 fan, but JMS' often overly lengthy, expository dialogue does occasionally bring episodes to a tedious crawl.

Even later seasons have plenty of episodes that are slow going...I also attribute this to budget. If it was JMS' intention to really shake up TV SF, then he could have made it more more exciting than STNG...which is the show he was aiming for at the time.

Me too. Boxleitner just irks me. No idea why.

Anyway! Is there any possibility of new B5 stuff from JMS or is that deader than a tribble at a Klingon convention?

Funny Hair & Lizard Guy would be a good name for a TV series. :p
"Together, they fight CRIME!"

Animated series on The Cartoon Network, I can just see it now. :rommie:

Once Sheridan wiped off that silly grin off of his face and stopped talking about orange juice, he was good to go.

But I like O'Hare's bread crumbs style. I thought it fits the character very well.

I liked O'Hare a lot. He was quite a different sort of leading man, but he was a good one. At first I had misgivings about Boxleitner being the pretty boy replacement, but he did a really good job as well. I do wish we could have seen more of O'Hare along the way.

I like a lot from the first season, but there were many episodes that I would call Forgettable. Episodes like Signs and Portants, and the Wilderness 2 parter are great, but it really is Chrysalis where the series came to it's own and took off.

As for O'Hare vs. Boxlietner, I liked both but Sharidan had more personality. I did want to see more of Sinclair's lady friend from the final episodes of the season though, and wondered what she thought of Sinclair's revelation, or if they broke up.

Catherine joined the Rangers, but was unfortunately lost in mission to the Sector 14 time anomaly.
It is implied that Sinclair eventually did find her again.

Catherine Sakai stayed together with Sinclair according to the novels.

Ninja Lindley beat me to it.

Garibaldi also mentions her in season five when he's at Fresh Aire noting that things go wrong every time he eats there.

In his first several episodes, Boxleitner wasn't playing Captain Sheridan. He was playing Captain Skippy. It took him awhile to find his footing, but he eventually grows into the role, and settled in nicely.

Which was JMS' intent...listen to his commentaries and interviews on the dvds.

Aimed for and hit, frankly. B5 is far superior in terms of depth and complexity than TNG (or VOY for that matter). Only DS9 approaches it's level, and then only in the later 3 seasons.

Add me to the O'Hare love, I totally got what he was doing. But I enjoyed Boxleitner as well, his character was also great.

I don't have opinions. I have facts.

The sky is green today. And you can take that to the bank.

Interesting. Glad the books brought her back in some form.

This thread made me finally bite the bullet and purchase the movie collection. I figured it's a last Christmas gift but I did enjoy the movies when I was watching the whole series a few years ago so I can't wait till they come and I can see The Gathering and In the Beginning again.

The Movies collection does not contain The Lost Tales (came out 2/3 years ago, set around 9 years after the fifth season) or Legend of the Rangers.

Speaking of ... It's kind of awesome watching Rangers now and seeing David Martell on screen. Why? Because I now own the costume he's wearing. *squee*

Well I rank B5 in my top 15 SF shows all time (it's at #14, STNG is #1) it definitely has it's moments. I'd enjoy seeing a big budget movie version but I doubt any B5 will ever be made again...unlike ST.

I know, but I'm sure I can live with it. For one, I still haven't seen Legend of the Rangers and I didn't entirely like The Lost Tales. At least the Movie collection brings the series to a reasonable end, at least with A Call to Arms, which was one I really enjoyed watching.

Oooh, ooh! I outrank you! 'Cause I've got a Grey Council robe that could just possibly have been Delenns. Nyah, nyah! :p
