Noticing something for the first time in a movie

Longtime lurker at the board but first time poster. I have loved all incantations of Star trek but have always loved the movies more (Tos mainly). I have probably watched them all a million times and will put the Blue Rays on whenever I need some enjoyment or a pick me up- however tonight I got a bonus joy- I noticed some things in WOK that I had never noticed before that made me smile. specifically I am referring to the fact that when Spock puts in the Command codes to lower Reliants shields- he is using the weapons officers console. Now like most of you I have seen this movie hundreds of times and never noticed this. this leads me to my question, have there been any scenes or what have you that people have noticed for the first time after seeing these wonderful movies multiple times? :) Thanks to all for such an enjoyable board! Cheers.

When I rewatched the (massively underrated) Star Trek V a few weeks ago, I noticed "Do not flush while in spacedock" on the wall behind Kirk's "chair" in the brig - which was, in fact, the toilet with the seat down!

In ST: TMP, it's fun to track one or two of the briskly walking aliens and civilians, in the San Francisco scene, and see where they go and what they do. Follow the three Andorian ambassadors and you'll notice one female suddenly veer off and do a circuit of the hanger deck. Watch the Rhaandarites standing within the big floor logo and see them directing a lost Arcturian to his destination, etc.

In the director's cut of TMP, I was amazed to see an original series shuttle taking off on the far right of the screen while Kirk meets with Sonak.

I noticed a model of the original Enterprise in Kirks quarters today watching Star Trek VI.

You can't rate ST V low enough, (just my opinion) :)

But back on topic, in TSFS, the art on the wall when the Admiral tells Kirk he can't go to Genesis is the Epsilon 9 station hanging sideways!

I recently became very interested in Starfleet rank insignia, uniforms, and markings, to the point where when I am watching the show/movies its one of the things I always look for. Obviously, there were major changes in TMP uniforms, TWOK+ uniforms, First Contact+ uniforms, etc that are hard to miss because of the magnitude of the change.

But one thing I hadn't ever noticed was the fact that in Generations, the entire crew of the Enterprise was constantly changing back and forth between the TNG-style uniforms and the Voyager-style uniforms! There is no rhyme or reason why the characters would be in one uniform in one scene, and the other in the next, only to go back to the other later. Take a look the next time you watch, and it will be very distracting to you.

I don't find it distracting, I think they should have ALWAYS had uniform options on TNG, just as in TMP. I was glad to see them finally using the uniform options. It got better with the grey/black uniforms as there was a one and two-piece option.

Just watched TWOK here on Film4 and for me the death scene lost a bit of its power by noticing the extra who joins Mcoy and Scottie in rugby tackling Kirk away from the radiation filled door and then quietly wanders off so not to attract too much attention.

Also Shatner's "nooo" after Spock died made me do a spit take, it wasn't the best acting in the world IMO
(To be fair Shatner handled David's death a lot better than he did Spock's, maybe he reflected on that performance after II and realised he had to do a better job for III)

Additional, I'm sure this is mentioned a lot, but WHY did Scottie take his nephew/that engineer to the BRIDGE.
Sickbay is THATTAWAY Scottie, maybe he wouldn't have died if you hadn't have got lost!

I always assumed that Scotty was so traumatized by what happened that he coudn't think straight, so he went to the bridge rather than sickbay. He may not have realized what he had done until it was too late.

A strange tidbit: That the bridge consoles on the USS Excelsior in STIII had very TOS-like computer interfaces, with the blinking coloured squares. Kinda weird that the most advanced starship in the fleet would be using an obsolete OS.

Maybe Captain Styles wanted a "retro" look for his bridge. By the way, even though the names are spelled differently, I've always accepted that Captain Styles and Lieutenant Stiles were the same person. It adds something to his words to Kirk just before the latter warps off.

Because McCoy is always on the bridge....duh

Or the turbo lift was broken. It would take much damage for the voice interface to get confused by Scotty's accent...
Not canon, but in the novelization by Vonda McIntire (sp?), it states that due to the battle damage, the turbolift shaft was blocked to sickbay and he couldn't get through.

I know that they were using two different styles of uniforms for the movie, but I didn't realize any of the characters were wearing both.

Pretty sure that Picard, Riker, Data and LaForge all wore both variants in Generations.

Yes and custom uniforms were only made for Stewart and Spiner. Frakes had to wear Sisko's uniform and Burton wore O'Brien's....neither of which fit properly.
