Is my Avatar too racey or provocative for an Adult over the age of 18 Star Trek Board? I was taken by surprise lately, to have my avatar I'm using here, deleted on another adult Trek Board. The clothes are skimpy, but there's no nudity and it is an animation. I don't know, I thought it was a cute and whimsical Christmas avatar.

What does everyone think? Too provocative??

Meh, I've seen worse in a comic book.

In regards to the board you say it was deleted, disallowed, on: Are you sure the board is a +18 / M board? As in do you have to be 18+ to join and it's a closed board? Or is it a public board and there's a chance the membership / lurkers could be less than 18? In which case would the avatar be in violation of the board's content guidelines?

There were a few high school kids, but most members were ages 30 and up. I guess there could have been lurkers under the age of 18. But come on, with all those video games out there, I'm sure most kids have seen animation like my avatar by now....

Okay, so it wasn't an "Adult" (18+) board is was just a board with the majority of the active membership being 18+, got ya. It boils down to the same thing as here [TrekBBS]: Gotta dance to the tune Admins play.

I've seen worse in a comic, but I'm not a mod making the call. Maybe the best thing in a situation like this is dicuss the matter with the mod or admin that pulled it and see what exactly the issue was and if it was something that could be addressed. Is the whole ava the problem, just part of it, where was the line that got crossed so you don't have the issue in the future.

Just part of the avy was a problem. I guess I thought my avy was fun and whimsical being that it was an animation. My problem was that I was a good member for 6 years on that particular board, and it was just deleted by Admin, no questions asked prior.

I just wanted to get some unbiased opinions so I don't make the same mistake again on any other board.

Well that sounds more like a procedural thing. Sounds to me if you edited it the avvy they might let you put it back up.

And be careful about using opinion here as gauge all for other boards. Not all boards are the same, best thing before using the ava on another board would be to question mod/admin and get their opinion.

It insults my God.

Eru Illuvitar?

You know, because the avatar's an elf.

Don't explain the joke!

Huh, must be watching to Macross. Cause my first thought: Macross 7 Meltran or Protodevlin.

I don't any of us at TrekBBS would have a issue with it. Anyone that read some of the older Gen 13 comics would look at it and say "And?". But that's here, where is was pulled at apparently found part of it offensive or since there is a under-18 presence the staff(er) erred on the side of "pulled it down to keep someone from complaining"

I'm glad there isn't a problem here apparently with the avatar. I was thinking it wasn't any worse than the Bratz dolls for kids.

Google "Gen 13" comic or "Aspen" comic and that's about par with this avatar. But I don't see it as a big deal, if you like that other site just don't use the avatar on that site.
