2011 NFL Season - A New Game

Word is that Raheem Morris is already toast in Tampa Bay, but ownership / management believes that the coaching staff, as currently structured, isn't large enough to function without him. :wtf:

I was a bit surprised that it was a poor showing by the Packer's passing offense that lead to their defeat. I figured it'd be their suspect defense (and poor running game) that would let them down. Kudos to the Chiefs for devising a good game plan and figuring how to stop Rogers. I'm sure both the Lions and the Bears will try to copy their formula.

Oh well, at least the talk of a perfect season is done.

I liked this bit:

"When one of the best pass rushers in the league gets a clean shot, it's going to hurt," Brady said. "He got me pretty good. I'm sure I'll be feeling that one in the morning."

The best part about that was how Brady hopped right back up like nothing happened. :p

That was a damn good hit, though. They should send a clip of that to James Harrison so he can see how it's done.

Johnny Knox is facing several months of rehab after his back got jacked the fuck up, but the current prognosis is that he will recover and play football again -- which is rather impressive, since the dude got bent in half yesterday.

I thought the thing on the punt could have gone either way.... I only caught one or two replays and didn't really see anything that showed whether or not he got blocked into the guy. The refs definitely got the incompletion right though. The camera angle from across or above the field very clearly showed the hand was down first.

The 49ers played 'lights out' last night. The atmosphere there was 'electric.'

The Steelers just couldn't 'generate' any offense. Where was the 'spark?'

I can go on all day...

I liked when Brady snuck it in for the TD and went all Gronk Smash mode with the ball.

And yeah, hard hit, but clean. Send it onto Harrison. Also send Ndamokong Suh a video of one of the Pats' offensive possessions. You know, to show him how you can go for a long drive without crashing into a tree.

He never would have made the same exact hit because he doesn't know how to hit people without leading with his helmet. :p

Bullshit. Harrison has hit the QB like that on many occassions, only to be penalized for "roughing the passer" or some mundane reason like that.

^Actually, Harrison saw it and immediately started tweeting about how if he made the exact same hit, he'd get fined again.

I agree with him. How many helmet-to-helmets were inflicted on Kellen Clemens during the Cincy- St. Louis game that was obvious in replays but were not seen or flagged????

For what it's worth, I thought the Dumervil hit was clean and professional. My friend and I looked at each other immediately after that play, and said that's how you hit someone.

On the other hand, Harrison has definitely had some questionable hits. Anyone who disagrees is an obvious homer. If Harrison had made the hit on Brady exactly the same way Dumervil had, it's likely he would have gotten praise for finally getting it right, and all it took was hundreds of thousands of dollars in fines/suspensions.

Has Harrison had some borderline plays? Yes. But the Dumervil sack is the way it should be done. No question about it.

Leading with the helmet is still leading with it. I watched it expecting a flag.
