Edgar Ramiriz IS Khan Noonien Singh

If you haen't seen the movie Carlos, I suggest you get it on Netflix or something. I watched it because I'd wanted to see it a while, but moreso now because of the Khan rumors.

This man IS Khan.

He's charasmatic, powerful, and (I say this as a very straight man) great looking. His intensity immediately reminds me of Ricardo Montalban. If they go in this direction, I wholeheartedly endorse this pick.

Unless Simon Pegg was incorrect or just didnt see the whole script, Khan apparently is NOT in this film.

Khan may or may not be in the film. We still don't know for certain.

Most indications seem to be leaning towards him being in it, though.

I don't know. Back in the sixties, you could get away with a Mexican actor playing a Sikh from northern India, but nowadays? I still think Naveen Andrews would be an interesting choice for Khan.

Not that we know that Khan is even in the new movie . . . .

You fell for the non-denial denial? ;)

Well now, Khan's precise ethnicity and culture has only been mentioned on screen - what, once, during his original appearance? If they want someone who's reminiscient of Montalban, casting by background may or may not be a good or worthwhile approach to that - but if they think it's a good idea, they can just not bother to get very specific about his heritage this time around. God knows there's been enough continuity drift where he and his history are concerned - my favorite has always been the sleight-of-hand which transformed "eugenic breeding" in TOS into "genetically engineered" in TWOK.

I don't understand the desire to have Khan as the villain in the next Trek film. Since the new films are all based in the TOS era, you won't be getting TWOK (the TOS film era). You'd be getting the Botany Bay Khan, right? I'm not sure that story would make a great film, unless it's all totally re-written. It sure doesn't seem to be a great second film story idea anyway. I'd much rather see the Klingons and have them re-introduced. (Maybe have Khan in the third or fourth film.) It would be so much more fun to have a really great Klingon bad guy. Maybe Kang or Kor reintroduced and let him and the Enterprise crew battle it out!! That could be FUN!!

You could get away with it nowadays, too - that's not really the problem. It's not a bad thing that they'd pick a guy of the "wrong" ethnicity for the role, as long as he looks more or less right, but it is a bad thing if they're so lunkheaded that they think only Latino actors would be right for the role, and those were the only actors they tested. Are they really so obtuse that they'd mix up an actor with the character he played?

In the 60s, it would have been hard to find a good Indian actor. It's not so hard now.

I still think Naveen Andrews would be an interesting choice for Khan.
Ditto, he'd be amazing in the role. Maybe this other guy is amazing, too - if he's been cast, if it's even Khan, if if if...

If they do entertain Khan for even a minute in this movie, I hope they do one thing. Lose ditsy McGivers. That character was stupid, irritating, and bereft of common sense. What was her goal on that show? They should have called that episode, To Find a Boyfriend.

I nominate the second Abramsverse story not regurgitating a TOS plot like the second TNG story did.

Well now, when will we discover if Khan is involved in this film? If the Pegg story was a non-denial denial, what does that mean?
