Daedalus Class MSD

Hi Folks.
After the complex Nebula class, I decided to do something a little more primitive and less time intensive.

Presenting the U.S.S. Essex:

It was quite fun figuring out ways to squeeze it all in. I figured that the equipment would be bigger and less compact, so I scaled it accordingly.

Full high res version available on my blog.

Ducks and sharks, eh? What this Federation coming to?

Interesting interpretation on the Daedalus.

Very nice.

Visited your blog, you have quite the variety of official & 'kit-bash' versions. Loved many of them, but one stands missing the original 1701. Add that and it would be complete, no?

Cool, but, um, how does anyone get into the bridge?

"MADE IN SCOTLAND FROM ____" what?

It's on my list :)

Bridge is accessed via a stairwell from Deck 2, the stairs are either side of the bridge. There was no way to illustrate them without cluttering the drawing.

And it's "Made is Scotland, from girders".
Tis a slogan from Scottish Drinks manufacturer "Barrs" who make Irn-Bru.

I like the little notch on the front underside of the secondary hull.

The what now?

If you go to his blog and check out the full size image, there is a Stormtrooper helmet graphic in one of the rooms on the lower deck of the second hull.

Again, I love the detail that you put into this schematic. And I love how you manage to put in little in-jokes here and there.

I'm pretty certain though that having phaser banks is inaccurate, seeing as how the Daedalus class was taken out of service before ships were equipped with them. I would have to do some research to make sure, but I don't think they were even invented at the time the Daedalus class was still in service. Most other depictions show them with laser cannons, phase cannons, or some other sort of laser emitters.
