Cheesiest, Goofiest moment in TOS.

TerragonSix

Lieutenant Commander
Red Shirt
As the title says. Try to think of, to you, the most embarrassingly cheesy moment in TOS.

My vote was when Kirk pulled his phaser in 'Shore Leave'

It is a tie:

"Are there men on this planet?"
-- "That Which Survives"

"The Way To Eden" (the entire episode)

“And the Children Shall Lead” — pretty much the entire episode, but especially the scene where Kirk loses his shit.

“I'm losing command. I'm losing the Enterprise. The ship is sailing on and on. I'm alone. Alone. Alone. I'm losing command!”

I have to say Devil in the Dark when we finally see the Horta clearly. It just looks so fake I had to Laughandlaughandlaughandlau.....

I thought the Horta was a pretty believable alien creature when the episode first aired in 1967 (I was thirteen then). When I look at the Horta today, it reminds me of a tomato meatloaf.

In terms of cheesy dialogue, I'd say it's a dead tie with ''WHO put the TRIBbles in the QUADroTRITiCALe?'' or ''Be-CAUSE......we don't LIKE you, now.......bup-bup-bup-BUPP!!''
Anything from I. MUDD is equally cheesy, of course, but going back to Shatner's tribble quote, I would have killed to hear Nimoy reply ''And who put the ram in the rama-lama-ding-dong?''
Or, “And who put the overalls in Mrs. Murphy’s chowder?” :)

Awww I liked "Bitter Dregs!" But seriously folks, the only moment from TOS that gives me pause is when Kirk needed a shouler rub in "Shore Leave" and thought the pretty yeoman was doing it, but then discovered to his embarrassment that Spock was the one rubbing his upper back. That moment was embarrassing to say the least.

In The Making of Star Trek, it explains that the budget for creating the Horta was really, really low. Apparently they did it for about $500. Considering that, plus the social statement made by that episode, they did a pretty good job overall.

It was the other way around. Kirk thought Spock was massaging his back, and was taken aback (pun intended) when he realized it was the female Yeoman.

Even back then, the whole thing seemed a bit -- well, GAY! You could say it was one of the Trek moments that gave rise to the fan subculture of “K/S” stories -- the original “slash” fiction.

I don’t recall any mention of the budget for the Horta costume in TMOST, unless it’s in a later edition. The costume was originally designed and worn by stuntman and creature-player Janos Prohaska, as a “giant germ” in the Outer Limits episode “The Probe.” Later, Prohaska played the Horta with some modifications to the costume.

Yeah, because straight men never ever touch each other.

This just does not ring a bell. Pulled it agaianst who or what, when? The rabbit? Tiger?

For cheez, I immediately thought of the Gorn. Not sure there aren't cheezier. The glove plant, I would agree with, for being right up there. I don't mind the Horta, though.
