Tell Me Why You're Awesome.

I'm not really awesome; I just play one on the Internetz.*

Wow, welcome to 2 pages ago, Skellington. :p
Without looking it up, do you know who originally wrote that line, though? :p

I'm awesome because I've worked on these (and finally cut a reel to show for it):

That's pretty awesome.

I'm pretty okay? Some of the time?
Oh, I'd say some of the time, at the very least, and better than pretty okay, besides.

* May not be factual.

I'm not awesome, and have no wish to be. I take pleasure in being utterly mediocre. :p

Yay for mediocre!

Wow.

Seriously guys? Seriously?

Here's an idea. How about keeping this same, tired crap out of this thread please?

I know you guys think you are kidding around and trying to shake things up by rocking the status quo, but I didn't start this thread as a vehicle for the same passive-aggressive bullshit.

If you don't have enough confidence in yourself to post at least ONE thing about yourself that you're particularly proud of, or feel like you can get away with bragging about, kindly don't post in here at all.

The whole point of this thread is for all of us to post about the things we're GOOD at and the things that we're PROUD of and you guys are dragging the same boring, woe-is-me cloudy crap in here too.

Is there no pause button for this relentless, repeated bullshit?
I'm awesome because I also posted something negative, and yet, you didn't call me out on it. Most likely because you knew I was being facetious.

I'm also awesome because I posted something facetious here and everyone got it, and didn't condescendingly explain that such things are difficult to convey through text.

I'm not awesome, but I am:

Kestra, I wasn't referring to you with that post, just the people I quoted.

Everything's about meeeeeeeeee!

Okay, I'll give this a go, though I feel really awkward. I'm awesome because (as my mom just told me yesterday) I'm a very kind and compassionate person. My mother said it so it must be true.

I am awesome because i am Haggis, Prince of frying, and defender of the secrets of deep fat frying. .... Fabulous secret recipes were revealed to me the day I held aloft my magic frying pan and said... "By the power of blocked arteries and poor diet!........I am Scottish!"

(Hey it's a sterotype but its all done in the best posssible taste....MmMMMmTASTEMMmMmm);)

I am awesome because I design buildings! That sometimes even get built, and then somewhat resembles the drawing, which was in fact, awesome.

I am awesome because I have tons of practice, e.g.

... I am awesome because I am faithful and don't have commitment issues. :)

If everyone is awesome then isn't awesome, by definition, mediocre?

Poor awesome. :(
Only if everyone were identical. But people are individuals, so their awesome is incomparable to others.

^ I look at it like this:

- To call ONESELF awesome is meaningless at best, and arrogant at worst.

- To have others refer to you as awesome is different. Because you earned it. You're not pumping up your own ego.
Nonsense. Much of the negativity in the world is caused by people overcompensating for their low self esteem; if people took more pride in themselves, the world would have fewer problems.

I'm awesome because:

-- I put up with crap and care for a couple of people who I desperately love but who give me very little in return, and I do it because it's The Right Thing To Do. And though it's been incredibly tough, it is rewarding in it's own way.

-- I've worked hard to build my skills as a writer, and I'm starting to get recognition from peers and am now the rewrite guy for a $2M movie shooting next year. Nobody helped me, I taught myself from books, and it's been a long, slow journey, but it's starting to come together. It's like reaching the top of a mountain, and suddenly there's this view in front of you. It feels good. It feels awesome.

--Oh. And a weird one (cos it happened again today). Even thought I'm a fat guy in his 50s, young women talk to me. This sweet girl who works in the building next door, stopped to talk to me, did the whole hair-twirling thing. I did escort her to her car one time, holding my umbrella over her against the rain, but it just struck me as the polite thing to do. I've had women say to me, "Hey, if you find yourself single, give me a call". Seriously? It's nice, but... I. Don't. Get. It. Weirds me out a little, actually. But they must think I'm awesome. :D

I'm awesome because I am English, and we invented the word "awesome" for all of you to use.

I'm awesome because I can whip up a pair of these gloves in just a few hours.

Yay for knitting geeks! ;)

I am awesome because I am the God of MS Publisher at my library. People who need signs and brochures and flyers do it themselves. People who need signs and brochures and flyers done right turn it over to me.

If I'd had any formal training in graphic design, I'd actually be dangerous. :p

I have my own fez. Even if you disregard all my other positive attributes, that alone automatically makes me awesome.
