Have a favorite gutrot?

When I drink I usually like pretty good stuff. I'm not talking $100 bottles here, but your standard single malts, Jim Beam Black, that sort. Alas, sometimes I'm a boy on a budget, so I like like my hooch cheap and dirty.

Tvarscki 100 proof vodka is a particular favorite of mine, and of course there's just something so right about hanging out with some hipsters and getting smashed on Old Crow. Of course, it goes the other way, too. Stone cold sober, the sight of a Popov bottle can send me running hand-over-mouth to the nearest trash can or toilet.

I don't exactly have the constitution to try every swill out there, so what are some of the cheapo spirits that you find palatable?

I use to drink a cheap bourbon called Woodstock. You used to be able to get a 10 pack for around the same price as a 6 pack of regular Jim Bean. They also offered packs of larger cans than the standard 375ml. It was a dirty tasting drink, but the price and quantity offset that.

Maybe it's a Aussie thing, but...

Bourbon comes in six-packs?

Makers Mark is not bad. Also Captain Morgan's Private Stock is a nice rum.

I can't take any kind of gin. I had a bad experience when I was a kid and the smell of it turns my face pale. Got a hold of some moonshine once. Yep... once is all you need...

Wiild Turkey or Southern Comfort was the drink of choice before I knew better, and they burned a few holes in my stomach.

I'm more of a wine guy, but as an after-dinner digestif I sometimes enjoy a shot of Italian grappa or limoncello. Some amari (Braulio, China Martini, Jägermeister) are good, too.

I've been meaning to acquire a taste for brandy, but I've yet to come around for it.

Tried some booze once when I was a teenager. Don't know what it was, but it made me see the inside of my own skull. Haven't touched the stuff since.

And isn't the expression "rotgut"?

Depends how much you've been drinking. And at some point it doesn't matter. ;)

Iguana - the Limoncello is very nice. We've made our own using a VERY strong proof of grappa that could have stripped the paint off a car.

Gin - New Amsterdam. Really cheap Gin is awful, NA is actually decent and I can make a G&T that tastes like an orange creamsicle with it.
Vokda - Svedka. not quite bottom shelf, but anything that is might as well just have a blank label with a sharpie X on it.
Whiskey - Kessler or Canadian Club if we're talking bottom shelf.

I'm not a drinker, but I like liqueurs such as Drambuie, Grand Marnier and Stone's Ginger Wine. I also have some Limoncello in the fridge.

As for mixed drinks, anything with chocolate in it sounds good. I managed to try a grasshopper (⅓ cream, ⅓ crème de menthe & ⅓ crème de cocoa) and liked it well enough. It was Kung Fu: The Legend Continues that put me onto the grasshopper. Caine had a few and looked like he was enjoying them.

When I drank rum I preferred Sailor Jerry. Now-a-days I go for a gin and tonic.

Bombay. Because I'm a classy mutha fucka.

I have the worst palate for spirits ever. My drink of choice is Trader Joe's Green Fin chardonnay: $3.99 a bottle.

^ That's great, it means no problem finding what you want and not having to share!

I prefer the cheapest vodka I can find, when it no longer tastes awful it means I've had enough.

I also have a weakness for high-end hard apple ciders.

I don't go for cheap stuff when it comes to liquor.

What I imbibe in the most:

Bourbon: Gentleman Jack
Rum: Captain Morgan, Cracked, Bacardi Select
Scotch: Glenfidditch

Bailey's and Kahlua are my mixers of choice.
