My Little Pony web invasion?

So we've had a MLP thing on TBBS for about 6 months (timing?) now Man's boardgamegeek site has a pony invasion too. Rebel geeks have voted MLP 'hide and seek' game as number 5 on the list.

Obviously I find this highly amusing as do the other rebels, but 'serious' boardgamegeeks are outraged at the frivolity.

Has My Little Pony cropped up in any other sites that you visit?

thankfully not many. there do seem to be some brony users on Call of Duty wiki of all places...

wish they'd hurry up and die.

Even though large tracts of the Web and many old and famous sites have fallen or may fall into the grip of the bronies and all the odious apparatus of MLP:FIM rule, we shall not flag or fail. We shall go on to the end. We shall fight in the forums, we shall fight on the blogs and comment sections, we shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength, we shall defend our internet, whatever the cost may be. We shall fight on the BBS, we shall fight on facebook, we shall fight in The Neutral Zone and in the lounges; we shall never surrender, and if, which I do not for a moment believe, this community or a large part of it were subjugated and colourfully magical, then our trekkers beyond the seas, armed and guarded by the True Faith would carry on the struggle, until, in God's good time, the new world, with all its power and might, steps forth to the rescue and the liberation of the old.

None on the board I'm admin on, none will be allowed there..

Believe it or not, on a Rush board I frequent, there is a My Little Pony thread that is 19 pages long.

Bring out the meerkats we need to defend... :klingon:

Around this time last year, the Something Awful Forums were taken over by a rash of My Little Pony discussion in multiple forums, with pony fans going so far as to buy more than a hundred "haters" pony-related avatars (on SA, you have to pay $5 to change your avatar / title, and you can change someone else's avatar / title for $10). After more than a month of it, with the threads getting very creepy, the admins gassed every MLP thread and made discussion of My Little Pony an immediately bannable offense.

I am daily tempted to enact that policy here.

I've not seen a thing. I'll let you know if I see something out of the ordinary, though. :ouch:

Either this is a board where we can discuss what topics we please or it's a board where we can only discuss topics that you and the other admins want. Don't act like it's the former when it's actually the latter. I've lost count of the amount of times you or bonz has said something similar to the above and it's just tiring. Either ban the discussion and admit that's the type of board you want to run or just drop it with the threats and innuendo and only step in if things get out of line.

I'm not a MLP fan. I've never seen the show and I most likely never will. I'm just saying, as a member of the board, it's disheartening to see things from the administration like this. Either this is a board where we can discuss all our interests or it's not. Time to take a stand.

On a wrestling board I lurk at the bronies are pretty strong, they're on their 102nd MLP thread there (for technical reasons they close threads after 30 pages which roughly equals 600 posts per thread), so that makes more than 60000 posts in dedicated topics alone plus a lot of sig images, avatars.

Lighten up, Francis. It was a joke. It's not like I'm saying it's a topic as horrific as child pornography or anything.

Really? 'cause I'm pretty sure I recall when MLP usernames were banned that thinly veiled accusations of viewers being pedophiles were thrown around. You can't do that and then make a joke about it. Listen, I like you quite a bit as a poster but the handling of this MLP issue hasn't been the administration's best hour.

So it's been going on that long? Thanks Timby.

Just why MLP? Why???? :alienblush:

Thanks J. A. :)
Hang on... you've not seen any? :shifty:
You know nothing of this brony thing and yet your avatar tells me otherwise :p

Sid ~ sorry if I've touched a sore point but I was just genuinely interested to see how far this had spread web-wise.

Now that things are calming down enough that people can enjoy discussing MLP when they want to, how about we don't drag out the whole argument again? Please? :)

K'Eh, I'm not squashing this thread - it's interesting to see how far it goes :techman:

Wow, that's dedication. :)

This thread is the first time I've been equated with being a Nazi for liking colourful ponies than just for being German. Well, it's something different, at least.

I haven't seen pony related dicussions on the other boards I frequent (well, except for Brony Kingdom, of course ;)) but then again, those aren't so nerd heavy.
