Which Star Wars books to read?

Lando Calrissian Adventures. Only Star wars stories I like, since they are so un Star wars like. They could fit into a Star Trek, or Doctor Who story with a little tweaking. :bolian:

Shadow Games the first 50 pages for those interested.

That excerpt reinforces my resolution to stay away from Michael Reaves books
( sorry, Maya Kaathryn Bohnhoff books packaged as Michael Reaves books ) after the Coruscant Nights debacle. I can't take the juvenile dialogue and the brain-dead editing anymore. I don't understand why these two need to be joined at the hip in all future projects. Reaves may have had problems, but permanently attaching him to someone with a, let's say, "selective" understanding of SW was not the solution. ( But at least we get an "I'm being stalked" plotline.... Deeeep breath. :scream: )

The Outrider ends up at a location which is said to be 32.6 hours from "the nearest port", 44.7 hours from Nal Hutta, and 36 hours from Tatooine... all at sublight speed.

Haven't seen anyone plug the Darth Bane trilogy yet. Those are my favorites. I've read everything (books and comics) chronologically up to the mid-Clone Wars so far, and I haven't read any other books that come close to the Darth Bane trilogy.

I've just finally started getting into novels set prior to the Rise of the Empire era. Read The Old Republic: Revan earlier this week; am reading TOR: Deceived right now; and anticipate purchasing TOR: Fatal Alliance as soon as I'm done with that one. Since I enjoyed Karpshyn's Mass Effect novels and his work in Revan, I'll probably look into the Bane novels at some point.

I wonder if they are going to be novelizing or adapting in comic form the storyline of The Old Republic. I'm not going to play the game, but I'm also not going to read any of the books or comics if they are only preludes to something I'm never going to experience.

There are eight classes in the game and each has its own storyline, so I would doubt there will be novelizations and/or comic adaptations. Even without getting more into the Sith Empire through TOR's storylines, I think Revan is worth reading for any fan of Knights of the Old Republic I and II - if you really want to know what happened to Revan and the Jedi Exile after they both disappeared following the conclusions of their respective games.

There is a Darth Plagueis book coming coming that will probably have some conection to it.

Did they ever explain how Evan Piell the one that dies in the Citadel story manages to die again in Coruscant Nights?

No. There's no in-universe explanation, it's just a brazen retcon.
"Retcon" implies some attempt at explaining the discrepancy. But since CN came out first, it didn't have a chance, and the TCW writers don't care about other media. :p Hopefully some forthcoming Essential Guide will be able to fix it, but for now CN is out of continuity.

I'm very much looking forward to Darth Plegeius. Several unanswered questions from the films could finally be explained, or they could continue to gloss over them. Did Plegeius create Anakin? Was the story Sidious told about him completely true? Was Palpatine disfigured by his Force lightning or was he projecting a false image of his true dark-side ravaged self for the previous decade?

Everyone probably has opinions on these questions, but this is the chance to get some definative answers.

Clone Wars has sort of been screwing up the book and comic canon for quite a while now. In the original timeline of the War, Anakin actually does not become a Knight until late in the war, shortly before ROTS. It's also never mentioned about him taking an apprentice. Also details about Asajj Ventress, Mandalorians, Darth Maul and others are quite different.

The comics and novels fit together with the movies and other Expanded Universe material a bit better IMO. The Clone Wars however do have a far more likeable Anakin...

Did Plegeius create Anakin?

I hate to be the bearer of possibly bad tidings, but rumor has it that the book neither confirms nor disproves this notion.
Was Palpatine disfigured by his Force lightning or was he projecting a false image of his true dark-side ravaged self for the previous decade?

This question was already addressed in 2005 by James Luceno's book Dark Lord and Star Wars Insider.

Kind of interested in the new Essential Guide to Warfare that comes out in May. I'm guessing from the pics it's partially intended to be a replacement for the now-outdated vessels guide.
