    I have finished Farscape...season 4.

We're So Screwed 1-3: The bold raid on the Scarran station to rescue Aeryn went off quickly, or I figured it would be at least till pt.2 they actually got her rescued. I guess the trade off is that Scorpius got captured. Exchanging one captured love (Aeryn) for another Earth (wormhole tech that Scoryp may/may not have). I did enjoy the interaction on the station between the Scarrans, Moya's crew, and the slave/worker race (I forget what species they are).
The revelation that the Scarran matriarchal flower is native to Earth raises the question, who/what brought the flower from Earth and how come no one else remembers how to get there?
Scorpy's betrayal was expected, if for no other reason than he always has had his own agenda and if betrayal gets the balance back in his favor then so be it. I liked the escape with the whole bomb drop down the shaft. Nice.

Bad Timing: So it's a race against time as the Scarrans are heading to the wormhole that leads to Earth. For enslavement and their precious flower. The episode as a whole I found quite good(as someone else said upthread). It's the ending that's a real kick in the jewels. Was that a Bioloid(sp) that shot the weapon that crystalized John and Aeryn? As a season cliffhanger that's harsh. When it becomes the finale it's a real bitch.

I went back and watched the bonus features on disc 5 and there in commentaries the crew reveals that had shot the episodes out of order(which is unusual imo). I know shows/movies are shot out of sequence but per episode, in order was my understanding. The last episode they shot was A Constellation of Doubt, or aka Bobby-vision as I called the episode.

Now it's time for the The Peacekeeper Wars mini or aka Season 5. Which is essentially 4 more episodes.

Eh, it's really more like a 3-hour movie.

I'm just gonna get this out of the way because you will ask about it (everybody does!): Yes, Pilot's voice sounds different. It's still Lani Tupu doing it, but the sound was mixed by a different guy. It'll throw you off a little bit.

Quite. It's essentially a concluding telefilm.

The problem is that there's no doubt Lani Tupu's doing it. That Lani performed as Pilot and Crais was a surprise to me when I first read it in the credits, but in PKW, well...

It was nice that Stark was around for the last couple of episodes I just wish Zahnn had also made an appearance. Maybe in PKW??

In fairness Zhaan did have a couple of appearances in the fourth season, however brief. But being dead and all simulated fantasy versions and alternate universe interviewees is as good as one gets.

Indeed. When characters die on Farscape, they tend to stay dead.

To get the Proper Effect, you need to wait for a couple years before you can watch Peacekeeper Wars. You can, of course continuing rewatching S1 - S4 during the hiatus, just to rachet up your annoyance more from the Cliff Hanger Series Finale

Zhaan's problem was that Virginia Hey couldn't handle the makeup any longer

I have finished Farscape this weekend by watching The Peackeeper Wars. This did indeed do a great job of wrapping things up and giving some closure to the series.

Right off the bat as this starts they do something new visually with Rygel by showing him swimming along the ocean bottom. The f/x are not quite perfect but they still pulled it off nicely. So did the boat get turned over? When they are crystallized the flakes are in the boat. Guess you just go with it but Rygel collecting the pieces in his belly was a bit of laugh. Then to find out the baby pieces stayed in him and now he's pregnant were interesting. Noranti tasting each piece to determine which is John vs Aeryn, all in all a good opening few minutes.

Maybe cause I was prepped for it I didn't find Pilot's voice as jarring. What got me were Chiana's eyes. Then Sikozu's hair and tattoo's were a bit of change, not to mention her now Scorpy-esque attire. Also, Sikozu as the the Scarran spy seemed off. If she's supposodly so smart how could she believe a promise that the Scarran's would free her people? Seemed like a possible character flaw there. Another thing that's just brushed aside is the return of Grunschlk and his nurse who were dead...but aren't now.

The return of Jool and Jothee were both a nice addition to the PKW. Was the same actor playing Jothee? I also thought that his look was a bit different. Something with the forehead felt different from the last time we saw him in S2 was it?

I don't recall the Eidolons having that face opening affect when Jool and company had that time spanning event in S3. The revelation that, if I read the insinuation right, the Eidolons essentially travelled to an ancient Earth and took primitive humans fills in the gap of "why do Sabaceans look so Human?". Also, since they were a race of peace it explains why they didn't stay on Earth. The Eidolons now feel like the Guardians of the Green Lantern universe to me. The Eidolons also said they did some genetic tinkering so it makes me wonder if any other of the more human looking species we met could possibly be other Eidolon tinkerings with human DNA?

Couple of nice space fight scenes and I liked the one of Braca making a run at the command deck. So Grayza is also preggers now which made for a very morning sickness type episode between her, Rygel and Aeryn all being pregnant at some point.

Ok, we need a Farscape movie now cause no way do I buy that D'Argo pulls a Spock ala Wrath of Kahn and stays dead. I mean heck John and Aeryn have both died once or twice and come back. I'm not as torn up about Jool but D'Argo? I also would like to have seen the Hynerian homeworld. Nice touch of naming John & Aeryn's child D'Argo.

The culmination of finally seeing the wormhole weapon was nice. Putting the show into our perspective it's interesting that one of the main thrusts of the show was the search for a perfect weapon of mass destruction. Given that the show straddles pre/post 9/11 and PKW is a few years later.

I'm really glad I bought this set last Black Friday. I know it's not for everybody cause of the "puppets" but the story and character growth and interaction is as well done as any sci-fi show I've seen since the mid-80s. It's so much better in totality than either Voyager or Enterprise and I tend to like Enterprise but get the criticisms there.

I understand that BOOM! Comics just completed a 24 issue run of a Farscape revival. Anyone read those? I've noticed D'Argo on the covers but didn't think anything about it till now. Obviously they resurrect him in the comic. I'm thinking with Grunschlk shown alive in the closing moments of chaos that he could be tied to D'Argo's return. Also it seems Sikozu's fate is left up in the air. Wonder if that's addressed in the comic?

I've made a fairly good run at my sci-fi bought during the Holidays last year. Watched nuBSG, TruCalling, Transformers Headmasters(s4) and Farscape. Not to mention a host of animated shows. The only one I didn't get to was Stargate. I have all 10 seasons of that to go and only seen a sprinkling of that over the years.

Farscape I'm glad to be acquainted and would recommend it to anyone looking for a "new" show.

Some of the bits spilled over the side of the boat. You can see the sequence around the 5:00 mark in this clip:

Sikozu was not originally meant to be the spy. It was going to be Noranti, but the actress was having issues with the makeup, so they reduced her role in PKW. If you look, there are actually two different actresses playing Noranti throughout the movie.

As for the comics, no, I don't think they resurrect D'Argo. I think the D'Argo comics actually take place before he dies in PKW. There are other comics that are a continuation of the series, and they're actually very well done. The art is great, and the characterization is perfect. Unfortunately, the comic series was just recently discontinued.

Ah, thanks. I guess I just recall the bulk of it being in the boat and didn't register the pieces that fell in the water.

I thought Noranti looked different at times but chalked it up to things like Pilots' voice and Chiana's eyes.
I think I would've preferred Noranti as the spy since of all characters I liked hers the least.

Also, I forgot to ask if Stark is "whole" now. His face is sealed over. Did abosorbing the Eidolons power bring him the peace he gave to so many others?

Thanks for the info on the comics. In that case we need a Farscape movie to properly bring back D'Argo and his namesake!!

Many believe there is reason to believe Jool survived as well.

How? Didn't we see the viewscreen with her blink out as the bomb hit? How would Jool survive? A time shift?

It's been too long since I've seen it, but, there's reason to believe the bomb didn't actually hit the target (May have been an effects glitch, of course)

Actually, the reason is that it might not have been a bomb at all. The way the weapon impacts the planet looks a lot like the Darnaz Probes from "What Was Lost," the probes that originally hid the Eidalons and their temple outside of time.

But that doesn't make any sense, it was a Scarran weapon that destroyed the temple. It wasn't the Scarrans who originally hid the Eidolons, unless I missed something.

We don't know who originally hid the Eidolons. All Vala says is that they were "enemies of peace."

    Sounds Scarren enough to me.

Didn't the Eidolons still have the three probes? Maybe they reactivated them when the incoming weapons fire was detected.

I don't know that it's confirmed that Noranti was originally the spy, rather than simply suspected, based on what is confirmed - that Noranti was originally going to have a bigger role until she had problems with the makeup. (She really was Zhaan 2.0.) Unless there's something I missed.

I believe this is very likely the case.

Look at how the Eidolons set up their servant races. They created the Sebaceans to be their foot soldiers, and the Interons to be their scientists. Then look at the Scarrens. They recruited the Charrids to be their foot soldiers, and conquered the Kalish to be their scientists.

Almost as if they were trying to emulate them in some way. Sounds to me like the war was originally between the Eidolons and the Scarrens, and after the Scarrens won at Arnessk, removing most of the Eidolons from the picture, the Sebaceans took over the war.

Or here's a wacky idea that occurs to me just now. People go on about how the Scarrens kinda look like dinosaurs. What if they are dinosaurs? What if the Eidolons went and picked up some fearsome creatures to be their warriors even longer ago, but lost control of them and somehow created the Scarrens, who evolved over the millennia into the forms we see now? And in an attempt to correct their mistake, the Eidolons went back to the same primitive planet and picked up the latest dominant lifeform there for their next go round? Actually never thought of that before.

I thought I read it in an interview somewhere, but I can't remember. Although it does make a lot of sense, especially since in "Bad Timing," Scorpius orders the "elder cook" to be brought aboard the next time they encounter Moya. I don't know why else he would be doing that if she wasn't supposed to be a spy.

Wacky idea, indeed. But this is Farscape, so it probably would have worked. The Eidolons probably stole the Bird of Paradise flowers at the same time and somehow used them while genetically altering the dinosaurs.
